I didn't even know that "Journey North" existed until you posted that link. Been stuck in Albany Med with my mother-in-law for the past week with no option to respond, and that series was a Godsend. We watched every single episode. She suffered a stroke and is essentially aphasic, she but nodded vigorously when I asked her if she liked Maine's road sweaters. She's got good taste, that lady.Journey North - Season 3 Episode 3 - https://youtu.be/Qu1VKrTVG0M?feature=shared
Rookie goalies show and explain designs of their painted helmets. Stewart’s has a dream catcher on the back of his helmet and is a member of First Nation. He has interesting half living half dead bear head. He has Latin phrases for embracing fate and living each day like it could be your last.
Berzins has Naked 5 on his helmet and the old school bananas logo. Other side he has some pine trees and on back he has Latvian country and statue for freedom of Latvia.
Noticed your post, but wasn't able to respond until tonight.Did any of you guys see the men's basketball team's 86-85 OT win down at Lowell last night? That was something. I actually bought tix to the Vermont and Bryant games after that performance. This is turning out to be a fun winter in Orono!
Nice job with the do-over, Ed. it's working soooo much better. Appreciate your good work.I just turned off all private post functions for the site, so we should be OK now.
Point of order, I am a big supporter of Maine basketball.Noticed your post, but wasn't able to respond until tonight.
Some old curmudgeons on this thread don't care for "squeaky ball" talk (Wally)., and other crusty old bastids would prefer that Maine funnel every dime into hockey (AMC), but I'm not going to mention any names.
For my part, I'd watch Maine if it fielded a tiddly-winks team, but I love hoops. I even played the game on one organized level or the other until I was 58+.
Just tonight, I watched our guys annihilate UNH, and that made feel all happy inside. REALLY happy.
Coach Markwood has resurrected this program, much as Ben has done with hockey. I'm pretty sure that he'll be poached by a bigger program soon, but I'm enjoying the ride this season. This is the first time we can discuss an NCAA berth with a straight face in forever.
Show me where I have said anything against commenting on Maine Bball? I've watched plenty of Maine Womens BBall over the years. Was a regular in the pit when Liz Coffin, Racheal Bouchard , Steph Guidi, Emily Ellis and many others played. Being an Orono Boy I was around when Dr J played in the pit against Peter Gavett, Paul Bessey etc.Noticed your post, but wasn't able to respond until tonight.

Sorry to hear, but glad it cheered her up. Maine hockey is good for the soul.I didn't even know that "Journey North" existed until you posted that link. Thanks for yet another informative post. You younger Bears on this board are kicking ass and taking names.

Ok, how do I get the most recent posts to show up on top of the pile and not the bottom.?
You must have been in awe of our offensive output in the first half. 14 total points, and 10 of them by a single player, who is probably asking how do you say "portal" in French.I watched our guys annihilate UNH, and that made feel all happy inside. REALLY happy.

Markwood is due for a bump….and will likely get one after this season….hopefully a multi-year extension as well. I would expect his new salary to be in the $250K range….nothing earth shattering but not chopped liver either. You must have been in awe of our offensive output in the first half. 14 total points, and 10 of them by a single player, who is probably asking how do you say "portal" in French.
Markwood is doing a great job, especially when you consider he is by far the lowest paid head coach in the conference. Ironically he is making what the former UNH HC earned, until we "upgraded" and bumped the salary about 30%
