University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Its awful if you live here IMHO. I love Spotify but listen to WKIT every time I'm in a vehicle. I've listened to most of the DJs on WKIT for many years. You feel like you know them after so many years. They had Jim Witt and Mike Geary doing weather for free. Best forecasts around without all the hype of the TV guys looking for hits on a website. Radio is way more personal than Spotify. Its a changing world and I doubt its for the better.

When Dan Hannigan was at WZON doing afternoon primetime and play by play for Maine hockey, you couldn't ask for better local sports radio. He composed silly lyrics to old tunes for every team in Hockey East, they were clever as all get out. I doubt any team anywhere had a better play by play guy.

Its a sad end to an era. Been listening to wkit since their beginning about everyday, sometimes all day, up until about 3 to 4 years ago. Just got tired of the same music when choice is so unlimited on the different apps. Dont even buy music anymore.
Shields does a really good job now with the coaches show and the radio play by play. Hannigan was in his own class though, liked how he always included the visiting team coach during the pregame show.

Been with them all along. Bobby Russell and the Guru Glen Simpson got me up and through my mornings. Good memories from over many years of listening.

Bobby and Glen ruled, I always told Bobby they were a great combination of young and old, he didn't really like the being the old one :) When Bob left the morning show went downhill for sure.

Maine 2-0 at end of 1st period

Maine with a very workmanlike effort in the first period. Forced a ton of icings, at least 7 and then lost count. Shots on goal 18-2 in favor of Maine. Most of the time spent in Stonehill’s end. The two goals were good net front efforts. The first Nadeau shot into screen from Makar, saved but left rebound, Makar taps it in. Second Scott waisted it on net through a screen and seemed like Androlewicz didn’t see it as he reacted late when puck was in the back of the net.

I get needing to balance the books but this is a complete waste of time. Hopefully no one gets hurt.

Maine’s strength of schedule so far is 6th according to chn team stats. So they are due for some cupcakes. Can’t schedule all great teams, can’t get all the great teams to want to come to Maine.

2-1 Maine

Stonehill scores on a rare softie given up by Boija. He just took a routine shot somehow it trickled through him and other guy tapped it in.

Stonehill is painful to watch. Ice ice ice ice ice. Sag 4 players in front of the net. Clog the middle. Ice ice ice. Hope for a lucky bounce. They are also physically out playing us.

I’m sure Maine will still win this game comfortably but they need to stop giving leads away. It’s crazy to give multiple goal leads away in back to back games against teams that are below 50 in pairwise.
