It was almost two different games. I thought Union was by far the better team in the first period and probably could have been up 4-1. As the game went on, they looked rusty (if that makes any sense) and RPI looked like the better team...go figure. It was just a little more tense at the end than it needed to be.

Union certainly can't play like that tonight or we'll see a Game 3 on Sunday. I think now that they have their legs back in game shape, they'll put together a better 60-minute effort. They were in this same spot a year ago, so they better know to finish this off tonight.

Agree with this.. U should have put the game away in the first 2 periods, but instead let RPI hang around and gain momentum in the 3rd. Thought the boys laid back a bit too much in the 3rd and didn't adjust to the deteriorating ice conditions. There were a lot of cute touch passes and dipsy doodles in their own end that RPI pounced on. The players need to change that into firm passes and keeping it simple. On the positive, the PP looked good early when the ice was good and Grosenick was outstanding - 1st star and saved the game for U IMO. RPI has to have confidence after last night and will throw everything they have at U in game 2, so better be ready for the rematch. Hopefully this was the "work out the kinks" game and get a better effort tonight.

Congratulations to Union on their series victory. Good luck in AC.

Looks like Cornell has punched their ticket, sure seems like there's a finals match-up coming there. Should be a doozy of a game if it happens.

On to AC!

On another note, Appert sent Curadi after our team after the final whistle. Curadi was headed over to the RPI bench and Appert yelled and pointed down to Union, and he went trying to start something. Real classless move by Appert.

Hilliarious. A Union fan calling someone else classless. This from the same fan base that for years threw oranges at opposing players. I'm sure with all the noise you could hear what Appert said to Curadi. Are you a lip reader? Pot, kettle.

Fridgen said it on the broadcast, too. I don't have to be a lip reader, it was clear what happened.

Also, I didn't call you fan base classless, I said what the coach did was. I've never thrown oranges at anyone, but thank you for assuming incorrectly. What Appert did was classless in my opinion.

Wow! Didn't take long for the sore loser trolls to show up....What was it? 30-45 minutes?

I commend burgie12 for being a gentleman and giving credit where credit was due.....

I agree that it took a while for the "orange" thing to die down, however, it was done to us first (not by RPI, to be clear), so I have mixed feelings about it......

I think SA is a decent coach and I didn't see the exchange since the internet feed was rather crummy. .....

However, there has always been some scuffling after Union-RPI games and this one was no less emotional......

One team was better and they moved on.....

Besides, the RPI group over there seemed to be talking about how you were a different team now and Union hadn't seen RPI like this...

Now, you go back to the last place argument. Totally weak.....

RPI stayed with their scoring average and we made sure to have at least one more in each game......

When did cheering for your team become a crime?

I never knocked RPI once during this whole series.....

Dropped to tenth in PWR as of this moment. I sense this is probably the conference's OOC record coming into play.

Congrats on the win.

From what I was told, Curadi went after Welsh because he laid a hit from behind on an RPI player at the buzzer that sent the RPI player face first into the glass. I didn't see it so I can't say for sure, just wanted to pass on what I heard.

the link shows the trump and tropicana hotels and when you go to the sites both have no rooms available for friday night

I think Fridge was saying Appert pointed to the referee and that Curadi thought he pointed at him. At any rate.....not a big deal.

The travel sites (i.e Priceline) have rooms at $180 for Friday night at the Tropicana. Check in Fri/check out Sat.

But maybe there's a cheaper rate with the phone number/reference code they list.

Congratulations to the team and coaches on another hard fought win.. and on to AC!!!! It wasn't always pretty but the boys got the job done and scored big goals when they needed to. The 4th goal in the 3rd period seemed to finally break RPI's will a bit, but to their credit the Engineers didn't quit and played hard right to the buzzer.

Grosenick was outstanding again and really looks like he is back in top form, which will be very important in the remaining games. Also needs to be said that the "other Bodie" is quietly having a very good season and has been a main cog offensively in the past month or so.. great work by him and Sullivan tonight. Still don't know who U will play in AC but looking forward to an exciting weekend. I'm still not used to all this success and am amazed at where the program has come in the last 4-5 years..

Just have to say that I am 100% sure that Appert did no such thing.. that's the type of thing that Fridgen (as a player) or Harkness would do back in the day, but not Seth Appert who is a truly class individual. There was a lot of pushing and shoving from both teams at the end of the game (and possibly more) and emotions were obviously very high. I don't know what got Curadi so fired up, but it wouldn't surprise me if a Union player did something that made him feel he had to stickup for a teamate. Luckily the refs prevented things from getting worse and tainting a series that both teams should be proud of. The games were played with high intensity and physical play but seldom escalated beyond that. RPI gave Union everything they could handle. Hopefully that will be good prep for U for next weekend.

Congrats on advancing this year. Hopefully we see you in the final (even though Yale would be probably better for our PWR). We gotta take care of business first though and so do you guys. Once again congrats, you definitely earned your trip to AC.
