Oh right, we were 3-12-1. Not even close indeed.![]()
The Iceman cometh. Will December define Union's season? If the the Dutchman were to lose their remaining December games to three of the country's best teams, certainly their current ranking would be invalidated not to mention the intrusion of doubt concerning the second half of the season. On the other hand we have seen that there are really few favorites on any given night. It is the hallmark of college hockey that parity reigns almost from top to bottom. Just take a look at some of this Fall's results. Union will have a tall order should they start their ECAC winter schedule with the stigma of of three loses to Merrimack, CC, and DU. Yet three victories (or two out of three) would be jet fuel for the Dutchmen, who have shown signs of brilliance along with some inevitable lapses.
The early season question mark about goaltending has been largely answered by the very capable performance of Troy Grosenick. On the subject of Nate Leaman's departure Rick Bennett has done a great job and will, no doubt, eventually forge his own reputation as a winning coach. Predicting the outcome of this season is more hazardous than predicting the number of hurricanes to hit U.S. shores. Those guys just quit.
Will December define Union's season? Tough to say.
Yet another "scholarship" reference. I hope he remembers to bring his checkbook in September.Quote from Dipauli. Anyone know anything about him?

That's just a conventional phrase the press uses, and in this case his brother definitely is getting a scholarship so the confusion may be understandable.Yet another "scholarship" reference. I hope he remembers to bring his checkbook in September.![]()
Theo DiPauli of the Chicago Steel (USHL) to Union according to Chris Heisenberg.
Can anybody provide me with the link toe Heisenberg's page so I can see where other recruits are headed??? Thanks.
It was kind of a ho-hum game, though a little better than the game in Troy from an entertainment standpoint. I was somewhat surprised to see some of those guys play yesterday, but that's good. Has to be kind of deflating for Pieri not to get on there against a last place team when the two goalies ahead of him have been sick/banged up. It may end up having been his best chance of the season to play. Hatch's goal was a thing of beauty - the best goal I've seen Union score all year.
Never having been to Lake Placid before, I left thinking it was the best rink in the region (be it Messa, HFH, TU, GFCC). Great place to watch a game, comfortable seating with ample room. Good sized concourse. It made me wonder why the ECAC ever left. The wide ice wasn't as drastic as I would have thought. Great little town, though it was a little too cold/windy to do much exploring.
This was the view I had from section 7: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/265/1000368x.jpg/
Maybe the best moment of the night was some guy in a Union jersey winning a car: http://youtu.be/3OEqtCEZIIE (video has no sound). Miracle on Ice II?
