Great win for the guys today. Union outplayed Merrimack in all 3 zones, a textbook example of what has become Union hockey over the last few seasons. I especially loved the play of Gostisbehere, who was strong on the breakouts and in his own zone. In addition, his game winning goal was highlight reel quality.

Let's go U!

Another nice win for U today. You guys are legit in all aspects of the game. I thought union looked like the #5 team in the country not MC.

thought the union defense was great today. not sure the exact stats but i know the d men blocked a ton of shots and prevented merrimack offense from getting to the net too much. looks like that took a load off of grosenick who also had a great game. our offense was able to test cannata more than merrimack offense was able to test grosenick, but a 95% save percentage against a top 5 team is nothing to be taken lightly. also awesome seeing freshman getting chances/scoring. looks like we're going to have a lot of depth. definitely looking forward to the denver and cc games. although the penalty kill is great with such strong d, lets try to stay out of the box.

Coach Bennett mentioned at the alumni luncheon before the game that blocked shots was a key for the game. I don't get to see too many games anymore, and was very impressed watching Gostisbehere running the point on the power play.

You guys looked great today. Totally outclassed Merrimack. Their only goal was a soft one too. Should have been a 2-0 shutout.

The thing that stands out most to me is that Union finally played three strong periods and against a quality opponent. They'll need to duplicate (or triplicate?) those performances out west. Nice way for the team and coaches to go into the holiday break.

Couldn't agree more.. no sitting back on the lead in 3rd period was key. The boys were relentless the whole game and were drawing penalties, which is another big key in away games like this. I think the lineup is beginning to gel. Big congratulations to the players and coaches and hope everyone gets to relax and have a great holidays!!

Big,big win! Going to Co with lots of confidence. The next two should be thrillers. Got to like their chances. Rick Bennett for president!

Very good hockey team Union has. Very impressed with Welsh, but the entire team made great passes and skated with poise in a tough rink to win at.

Great win W1. You guys are the real deal. Coach Bennett hasn't skipped a beat. Maybe with a top notch team like this one it is time to add a few more urinals and get the kid with the flashlight a bigger one. Seriously, nice work.

I watched the game yesterday and Union looked very impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing them at CC for what should be one hell of a game. Personally, I'm hoping they beat DU, then lose to CC. :p

Any Union fans coming out for these games?

I was going to ask the same thing. It's never too early to start planning for some New Years Eve debauchery, especially if you're spending it in a far-off city.

I'm saving my big trip for Tampa ;). Actually we are going to the FF in April, it would be nice if my team could join us there. I wouldn't expect more than a small contingent of U fans to travel to Colorado, I only know of two personally who are going and they were winners of a package at a silent auction.

I just hope we can make a better showing than the last trip to CC.

Excellent point, Another thing i`ve noticed about Union is how few "easy goals/chances" they give any opponent. They make the opposition work real hard for everything they are going to get. Tough club.
