Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Praise from The Mullet is a kiss of death. He has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to college hockey. ;)

I'm not expecting much, except for the ECAC to be represented well. Best of luck.

Precisely. The last time I remember him glowing over a player & team like he did with Jeremy Welsh, it was 2 years ago with Ben Scrivens. Scrivens proceeded to give up (I believe) 5 goals to UNH a week later.

Sadly, I'll miss the Friday game. Well, sort of...I won't be able to make the trip, but will watch it on TV. However, should there be a Saturday game, I will make the trek from Clifton Park.

This is kinda surreal - watching all of the awards come in and all of the accolades from other teams' fans and even The Mullet himself makes me proud to see what these boys have done over the past few years to get to this point.

I might miss all of the Friday game. Have a 2:45 Doctor's appointment in Boston I have been waiting 3 months for. And even if it is quick whihc I think it will be. Going home on 93 North at 3pm on a Friday will likely mean missing most if not all of the game. At least if traffic is at a complete stop I'll be able to score check on my phone.

I'm starting to get a little worried about the Friday attendance for Union. I just called the Union Athletic Department and they said there were still tickets available...Union was only given 400 tickets, right? That would be a problem.

I know that at least some fans bought their tix directly from the box office. They put us in those crappy corner seats again so some opted for a better location.

I didn't buy from Union because they wouldn't let me pick my seats. I'm just going to buy them right at the box office so I can not only pick my seats, but also avoid the $10 ticketmaster fee.

Here's 3 Union fans who bought at the arena box office and will be praying for light traffic on 95 Friday afternoon.

Here's something that occurred to me. If we beat MSU and UML advances, do Nate Leaman and Rick Bennett compare notes? Providence played Lowell three times in the HE playoffs winning the series 2-1. Nate's a classy guy and I'm sure he still has a soft place in his heart for the team he left behind, so I'm guessing that if approached he would be very helpful. I hope so anyway.

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

At least Union needed to find a band instead of finding a team to loan ours out to. I will never forget the year RPI's banned donned the purple t-shirts and played for Niagara in one of the NCAA tournaments in Albany. :p

You should have seen how ticked CCT got when we played with the Q-Pac band.

Plus, they asked us. We didn't ask them.

Schott also reports that Union will have a viewing party for the game - http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs...having-ncaa-hockey-viewing-party-at-orlin-au/

As far as the band, that's better than nothing. But you'd think the Union band would want to be there, vacation or not.

Union is inviting fans to the Olin Auditorium on campus to watch today's game. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and is free.

I hope he means tomorrow's game. If not, I can still make it to Bridgeport today if I leave right now! :)

Not sure where you are coming from, but anyone coming from the Capitol District should certainly come down Rt90 to Mass. Pike exit 2 in Lee, then take Rt 20 East/South to Rt 8 directly into Bridgeport. Nice easy ride which may be longer in miles, but the headaches you miss getting near NYC on a Friday are worth the couple of miles driven. Avoid I-95 north in CT after 2pm at all costs.

Another viewing party in NYC:

Watch the Game with Alumni in NYC!

This Friday, the team heads to Bridgeport, Connecticut for the 2012 NCAA Division I Hockey Championship East Regionals, if you can't make it to the game watch it with fellow alumni and friends in NYC!

Friday, March 23, 2012
2:30 p.m.

Connolly's Pub & Restaurant
14 East 47th Street
New York, NY 10017
(Upstairs room)

Good luck this weekend, Dutchmen. While I'm not convinced your team makes it out of its regional, it's been a pleasure watching your program progress into what it has become today. I'll be rooting for you guys to get to Florida.
