Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Now that I've had about 12 hours for the loss to settle in, it's great to read the accolades and compliments from everyone, even RPI fans. :p

There was no failure this season, only success. I've been saying all along that Union is not playing the "little brother" to RPI anymore and now that they gained a ton of national attention, it's time to keep that reputation going for many years to come. Even though we lose the leaders like Zajac, Julseth-White, and Welsh, we have current leaders on this team that now have the experience and will help sustain the success of this year's team.

Thank you seniors and Jeremy Welsh! I'm really hoping Kelly Zajac and Nolan Julseth-White get some looks at the NHL level, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how Welsh does in Carolina.

That's a great opportunity for him, one certainly well-deserved. And hardly surprising.

We can consider this the price of success.

Wow, that didn't take long. Best of luck to Jeremy at the next level.

Congrats. to Union on an outstanding season. You guys were fun to watch, except when you played us.:)

http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs...-was-right-for-welsh-to-leave-union-for-pros/

"I just feel, for my development as a hockey player, it was time to move on and take the next challenge," Welsh said Friday morning at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. "I'm going to get my education [done] by the end of the summer. It's time to move and just keep developing."

Bennett is very happy for Welsh. He believes the timing is right.

"He has our full blessing," Bennett said. "It's great to see good people rewarded for their hard work. He's older. He's really taken care of his course work.

"I think he's my age right now," Bennett joked, "so it was time to go."

As a Tiger fan who fondly remembers the days of the DIII RIT-Union rivalry, Congratulations on an amazing playoff run.

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

ADK to your post about grosenick going pro: I strongly believe that he will not go pro. From knowing him I can truly say he will stay he's not that type of kid. That's just my opinion and of me hearing things

BTW it was nice to see Nate Leaman and Ben Barr at the pregame reception on Thursday. They were very warmly received.

Back from FF. What a fantastic time, despite the disappointment of not advancing. Tampa did an amazing job and I will reluctantly have to credit the NC$$ for knowing how to put on a great event. As this storybook season has drawn to an end we should probably think about starting an off season thread.
