I agree. Winning a NCAA game would be Monkey # 3 off the backs of the program. This has been a blessed season and it would be awesome if the team can make a decent run...

Union people!! As you could guess from the user name I am a Harvard fan but do have a soft spot in my heart for Union as my nephew/godson graduated from Union about 8 years ago and he loved the place.
I was forced to listen to the game on WHRB but it sounded like a really exciting game to watch. Union's D really immobilized Harvard's forwards, especially in the first period. Also sounded like a fast clean game. I recall when Union entered the ECAC and for the first couple of years you were a bit of a doormat for the league. Your hockey program has come a long long way and it is a credit to all at Union.
This is one Harvard alumnus who will be cheering for you in the NCAA's. Best of luck to you all, team and fans.
P.S. Since it is St Patrick's Day still: Beannachtaí na lá féile Pádraig oraibh!

Congratulations Union. I don't know if I mentioned this but I saw the Dutchmen play Harvard at Fenway Park back in January and thought there was "something special" about the team. Well so far, they've won both the Cleary and Whitelaw Cups. Now go win an NCAA game! With my team out, I'm rooting for you guys!

WOW!!! An incredible night and an incredible feeling.. still have to pinch myself a bit that this is all true and remind that 4-5 years ago it looked this would never happen in my lifetime. Was really amazing how quickly the boys regrouped to score after Harvard got the first goal. This is truly a special group of young men and big congratulations to the players and all the coaches who worked so hard to get to this point.. and lets not forget a certain ex-coach who currently resides in Rhode Island and was instrumental in the program reaching this level. A great accomplishment that can never be taken away!
At this point I don't care who Union plays in the NCAAs, though the prognosticators seem to be saying either Michigan State or Western Michigan. Will be another big challenge regardless.

That would be Cornell in 2003. I remember that team absolutely manhandling Union in Schenectady.. men against boys. BTW they made the Frozen Four and lost in OT.

Congrats to Union on gettin 'er done today. I said it both last year and again this year -- Union was the best team I watched in person this year... (Even though RPI played well enough to beat you last weekend)

Congrats y'all. Growing up just a couple years ahead of Matt Hatch, I'm certainly excited about the opportunity you guys have this year. Just don't go pull a Clarkson with that 1 seed like they did in Rochester back around 06 or 07, alright?

I've seen Michigan State play a couple times this season. Should be a good matchup for Union. Hate the time however, I'll likely miss at least half the game stuck in traffic.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but looking forward, should Union win their regional... they've played three of four possible opponents in a potential national semi-final. It looks like they'd get Michigan (beat them), Cornell (would be interesting to say the least), Denver (lost to them), or Ferris State. They hung in there with Denver, losing 3-1, but it was a game that could have been different had Grosenick started. Stevens got the nod that night and was yanked early on.
