Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit
During the day, I had two questions answered by ESPN/INCH college hockey analyst, Joe Gladziszewski (I'm Will F from New York City). His answer to my second question convinced me to make the trip to Princeton

The whole day, I put off asking my boss about leaving early because he was busy and I was doing a lot of stuff. I knew that in order to make the train 6:03 train from Penn, I would have to leave work not a second later than 5:50. However, at 5:55, I talked to him and basically said "I'm going to take off now." I left work, sprinted 7 blocks and 2 crosstown blocks and made the 6:03 train as the doors were closing. Never ran that fast in my life. My train got in "Princeton Junction" at 6:55 and then the worst part of my trip began: The taxi driver had NO idea where the hockey rink at Princeton was so I didn't get to the game until 7:40, just before the 2nd period was starting.
When the 2nd period started, Princeton promptly scored three goals and I immediately regretted making that trip. However, Union showed tremendous fight and resilience by getting those three goals right back and then some! We ended the period scoring four unanswered to take a 5-4 lead and then piled on two more for the 7-4 victory. It was one of the better comeback victories I have seen in my time as a Union fan.
It was cool to be in the 2nd oldest rink in college hockey, but it was eerily quiet. The only time the fans made ANY sort of noise was when Princeton scored a goal and even then, it was just a one second outburst followed by everyone taking their seats again. No chants. No students. No noise. It was still a good experience.
I ended up paying $75+ for transportation/ticket and I didn't get back into NYC until 11:30 but it was all worth it because UNION WON! I don't think I'll be able to make it to Quinnipiac tonight because of the weather but hopefully Union can further improve our PWR because Quinny is a TUC. They battled to a 3-3 tie with RPI last night and should not be taken lightly.
#7 in the pairwise rankings now. If the season ended today (unfortunately it doesn't), we would be a #2 seed in the National Tournament!! Hopefully the hot streak continues tonight in Hamden.
