Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic City!

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

Thats true Flagdude. What elase is also true is all the crazy posts and arguing over a recruit coming in next year and points etc. Since we are on the subject of "how do these crazy numbers make sense".
lets take a quick look
I simply had stated that it is wrong to constantly be reading that, "points will be added", or "more points will show up soon"
7 points in first 9 games and plus 7, some added and changed.
After it was discussed, not 1 point in the next 18 games and a minus 1, worst on team over that stretch. Not 1 point.
Some of the racehorses at Union will be diving over the boards for matchups next season.....
Yo no hablo español.. or in other words, WT *** has this got to do with this thread??????? Please take this fascinating conversation back to the RPI Recruits thread.

As for comparing Union & RPI, I think the 3 games played so far, as well as the conference results, show that there is almost no difference between the 2 teams. RPI has had a tougher schedule so gets a little more juice in the polls, which is ok with me seeing as polls ultimately don't mean much. Hopefully there will be one or two more games between the teams to resolve the argument.

One in Atlantic City and one in St. Paul. :)

RPI played 3 games against UConn and UAH and didn't beat up on either one. New Brunswick doesn't count in the standings, but you knew that (or maybe you didn't). Union played four against the three and trashed them all (AKA, stat compiliing). It doesn't have anything to do with conference play, but then again neither does your 20 wins that you were busy crowing about.

This smacks of a person who can dish it out but can't take it. That's why you get negative rep, not because we're "bullies" but because you talk copious amounts of trash. Ever thus to chest-beaters. You can't be satisfied with your own success, you have to try to prove yourself "better" than someone else. The standings are one thing, the games are another.

You're a poor excuse of a Union fan, I'm disappointed that real fans like Wholin1 and Dutchfan have to put up with tools like you and unionbob.

:( Where's UHM?
And I thought we were friends? :)

In all seriousness though, as much as I LOVE beating RPI (and as much as I HATE losing to RPI), can't we all just be happy that both of us have two of the top teams in the country? Who would have thought this a few years ago? Nothing would make me happier than to see both of these teams in the National Tournament and maybe even St. Paul.

Has your out-of-conference preliminary schedule been released yet? I find it a bit peculiar that RPI is only playing one game against Notre Dame next year, and it makes me wonder if they intend to also play you guys next year, and then make the Troy-Schenectady run the year after. I know it isn't what is commonly done with the western teams, but it's worth a thought.

Wow, all of a sudden this thread's come to life. :D. I haven't heard anything except rumors about the OOC games next year. One I heard included a possible trip to Denver. This years' schedule obviously had some softies, but it at least served the purpose of getting U some notoriety I guess. Still and all, the way to upgrade is to get more meat on your scheduling plate.

Well, that's kind of the way things were going when FlagDUDE came here to congratulate you guys on reaching the top 10 for the first time, but then somebody had to get snotty, unfortunately.

Wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, BTW.

Thanks for the headsup Redhead. Stats look OK but I don't have much else to go on. He would be the third goalie next season, with Corey graduating. With Colin Stevens apparently set for 2012, that would make 4 goalies for '12, assuming that Keith doesn't leave early. I'm at least a bit concerned about that latter possibility.

Based on the SOS from both KRACH (U=31, RPI=32) and the Ratings Pct Index ( U=29, RPI=31), Union's SOS is every so slightly tougher than RPI's.

To fire up the rumor mill, the OOC Schedule for next year may include CC, Denver, Michigan and UNH. Michigan is probably the least likely, but I have heard both Michigan may be on the schedule or a school in Michigan. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well Denver can now be considered an official rumor as it has been mentioned at least twice.

I thought this was a pretty interesting column by Mark McGuire in today's TU. http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/If-it-s-Friday-it-s-a-big-game-in-hockey-1006427.php

I was particularly intrigued by the concentration during the week on the Friday game and to the same extent the lack of it by the coaching staff. It seems that Saturday's games are more or less on the fly.

Regarding a Michigan school, I would venture a guess that Western Michigan would be going to Schenectady to return the series.

This was confirmed during WMU's broadcast while Union was out in Kalamazoo.

Union College- 1st place in the ECAC. This is hard to believe, hopefully they come out and don't let off the gas. Colgate played RPI tough tonight and are a decent squad.

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

What a classless, classless display by Cornell at the end of the game. Sorry you had no chance at any point in the game and you were absolutely dominated, but hold off on the gooonery.

#1 sounds pretty sweet. Lock it up!

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

Does anyone know how tixs will work for AC? How many tixs will Union get to distribute?

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

Great win tonight, Union came out strong and dominated from the opening faceoff. Not sure what Nicholls's problem was tonight, the hit he put on Coburn in the first was cheap enough and his mugging of Buote was completely uncalled for. Union will need to be just as sharp tomorrow as Colgate seemes to have found their stride as of late.

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

Total U domination tonight. I honestly didn't think Union was this good or Cornell was this bad. For Cornell the game was all about the shots, "9" and "cheap". :D

I will have to watch the replay of what happened at the end, but I do know that Nicholls threw down his gloves and should be suspended. I actually think tomorrow's game v. Colgate could prove a tougher task. Got to keep it going. Go U!
