UNH Wildcats 2015 Offseason - Future Planning ...or Just Rearranging the Deck Chairs?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015 Offseason - Future Planning ...or Just Rearranging the Deck Cha

Of course I know TvR's place in the grand scheme of thing regarding this Cup win by the Blackhawks...just think it is one heck of an accomplishment that has been a joy to witness. Anytime UNH gets any kind of "plug" heck, as a fan I'll take it! What's wrong with showing team pride? Loved hearing "the New Hampshire product". Here's hoping BvR carves out some good stuff for us when he arrives. And as for your Hanson bros, well, it's been awhile since I've watched "Slapshot"... ;)

You can take some pride in the UNH alum who starred in Slapshot

TVR won't have his name engraved on the cup as he didn't play enough games for the Blackhawks

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015 Offseason - Future Planning ...or Just Rearranging the Deck Cha

Jeff Cox was the one who produced the quote about Mike being Umile's nephew, the Courant UCONN Hockey beat writer Mike Anthony never said anything about the two of them being related...he only said that he would be named coach in waiting. Cox retracted his statement and changed his article after it blew up in his face. Uconn has the 2015-2016 roster up on the official team web site, and Mike isn't listed as a coach anymore. Looks like the announcement is imminent now. I wish Mike well, he did a good job at UCONN. I sit directly behind the UCONN bench and it was fun to watch him interact with the players. It seemed like they all truly liked him a lot.
Good article. "He is basically family with Coach Umile" is attributed to outgoing Coach Borek. Given the previous insinuations from the Hartford Courant article ... couldn't he have chosen his words more carefully? Unless ...

Read that to get on the Cup one had to either play 41 games or play in one Stanley Cup Final game...thought he fulfilled the latter! Still a special experience regardless. But I do believe he will get his name on this Cup- anyone verify either way?

I think that the Blackhawks team is built to challenge for a few more Stanley Cups, so TvR should have more opportunities to get his name on the Cup if it does not work out for him this year.

Exactly how I read it in more than one account...and from the NHL.com site:

To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' names put on the Cup if extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play.

Moving on!! :)

Well ... hard to believe, but we're already on Day 15 of the Souza Watch, and it's that slow time of the offseason when the big ticket item drawing activity to our thread is a gaggle of posters living vicariously through TvR and vetting the details on Stanley Cup name engraving protocol. Yowzah. :p Yet the following just sneaks in under the radar a little bit ...

Former recruit Jake Ryczek commits to Providence.

Shocking. Not. Can we resume the C-H-C v. 'Watcher debate where we left off, please??? Anything but more waiting for schedule details, season ticket renewals, etc. ;)

UNH's season has been over for about 90 days now, heck we're not even at the midway mark of the offseason yet. :( Can we just skip ahead to the part where they introduce Coach Souza, while Coach Umile goes ahead and settles *family business* with the schmuck who said he was Souza's uncle? :D That'd liven the place up. :)

You say that like it's a bad thing? :D At least it's current news.. ;) Your Souza news is close; patience Chuck, patience...Oh and one more thing; getting TvR's name on that cup is huge; no matter how many minutes he played or SOG's he had; he joins the other 5 great players who wore the Blue n White and I think that matters. Ho Hum...back to the nightmare that is cleaning up my classroom. Year 35, over and out.

Omigod - now in addition to BS35+2, we have our very own HR35!! :D

As for you, Felger ... that last little tidbit ... from your lips to God's ear, now wouldn't THAT (perhaps!) be something??
