Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

Second, I don't need your permission to respond to what I consider a false assertion. I take no issues with his take on the men's team, as most would not, or the football team. But lumping the women in showed an ignorance of the team and the women's game.

Freak, FWIW I agree with your take on the women. At least JB is someone you can have a discussion with, even tho' we think he is mistaken. He has proven to be a keen observer of the men's team. But you're wasting your time responding to a dolt like '08. Perhaps it is time to return focus to the men and this weekend ... just sayin' :)

Agreed.

And I never intended for this to go on such a tangent. I was just responding to what I felt was an unfair comparison.

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

I didn't mean to get everyone pms'ing about the women's team. My bad. I'm just surprised that people would rather watch them than the men. I'm a UNHer all the way, but I just find those games to be so sloppy and almost painful to watch.

As my last comment on the women in the men forum - most would note based on the information I put forward that I am using objectivity. Just cause I can take off the blue & white colored glasses does not make me ignorant but rather the contrary.

Not sure if you all caught this on the mid-week press conference, but the team stopped on their way to Albany for a practice in Marlborough Wednesday afternoon. After practice, the Butler family hosted them for a team dinner. How's that for senior leadership? :p

There was a post on here somewhere from someone who got to watch the practice - very cool of the Butler's and also good for the team to be practicing on the smaller ice.

Need to score in the first and we can take it.

I agree with this completely. While we all know about the team's abilities to come back in the third period (Vermont games 2-3 notwithstanding), an early goal would be huge for the Cats at this point. Not only would it give them a huge confidence boost while playing in what could be a decently hostile environment, it would end their scoring drought as well as Scrivens's impressive shutout streak. They would say to themselves, "hey, we can beat this guy," and every team plays better with confidence on their side.

I realize UMaine at Orono fans have a lot of spare time on their hands but giving Gustav a nearly 2-to-1 lead on Bobby Butler in voting for the Hobey Baker award?!
Butler for Hobey - Vote early and often.

Fan voting is like half a point in the whole Hobey race. They just want to think the fans have a say in it all. It mean's nothing.

The women's game is cleaner, because there's no checking allowed. It forces more focus on puck movement and passing. But anyway . . .

I'm surprised there's not more talk of the Kostalansky return . . .

Freak, are you going to Albany?

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

I think those appearances brought in some good talent, that then left early. I could be wrong.

I was thinking about this but couldn't find WildShawn's quote to get back to.

I was thinking '02/'03 may have yielded Yandle, Kolomaitis, Smith, JVR, White, Bourque, Reid ...

If you're Minny, Bucky, BU, BC, you can take those hits and keep rolling with the other dozen NHL draftees on the roster. Until you cross that threshold, and UNH may never, your exposure is much higher, margins much thinner.

2 cents :)
