UNH Off Season Thread 2011

Re: UNH Off Season Thread 2011

does BU and BC at least have a home and home? Thats what I can't figure out. Why they'd space those games out so UNH doesn't have a home and home with ANY of the boston schools. Its stupid as far as I'm concerned. Part of what makes hockey east great compared to the other conferences WAS the abundance of home and homes, and now we have 3.

We have the annual 1st weekend of December home & home. The problem I have is moving a game to a Sunday in November against the NFL. Absolutely no point.

Re: UNH Off Season Thread 2011

Got two emails yesterday from folks in the know. The gist was the same in both. The BC game on 1/7 is being moved to 1/27 giving us a home and home weekend with the Eagles. That will free up the 7th for a Fenway game vs. Maine, which is giving up one of their home games at the end of the season. Not a done deal, but pretty close. BTW, the other half of the Fenway doubleheader? Supposedly UVM & UMass.

Re: UNH Off Season Thread 2011

They don't like to make anything easy, I have been sitting in 110 for years, even before they made them reserve, so do I not get them now since I am not a young alumi? There are only like 15 season tickets over there, heaven forbid you go back and make it GA, it is usally that way anyways. Make it easier for everyone.
Are they not going to grandfather existing STH's? Also, can anyone with a General Admission ST from last year confirm whether they are being grandfathered in or forced to buy a higher priced ticket? Under the new setup it looks like they've actually decreased the availability of season tickets to the general public over previous years with the removal of the GA season ticket (previously sold in the student section) and creation of the "Young Alumni Section".

P.S. I'd love to see them re-instate general admission in the far end zone, maybe giving people the ability to sit with their friends and not next to random strangers might create some pockets of atmosphere in the place, and encouraging people to show up earlier to get the best seats and keeping them in the building longer couldn't hurt concessions. Also, it only makes sense with the student overflow being placed in that section.

I can't find a link now for the life of me, but UVM-UMass was printed in a couple papers. Personally, I think the league is missing a great opportunity by not giving the BU and BC women the opening slot hot off their appearances in the Women's Frozen Four last season - much like how the UNH and Northeastern women's teams opened for BC-BU at Fenway last time. The Bangor Daily News hinted that the game could still be going forward in spite of the schedule being released:
Maine was also scheduled to host archrival New Hampshire for a season-ending two-game series in Orono on March 2-3, but the teams could play a game in Boston’s Fenway Park and, if that occurs, there would be just one game in Orono.

Have the same thoughts I have. I get my tickets in that end from a freind but buy 1 ga to have the extra ticekt, would love to see it go back to GA it makes sense. Its usally overflow students over there anyways and random people looking to sit together
When they changed a few years ago I went round and round with the ticketing people and kept getting a line of BS about people complaining they couldnt get seats, well I never had a problem, and plenty of people last year who didn't have tickets over there sat there, they just wanted the extra money. Don't think they liked it that I pointed that out and that I was getting less for the same price as everyone. Instead of all this BS now just go back to GA seating over there, it is by far the easiest thing to do for everyone. There was much more crowd partcipation over there when it was GA to. This whole young alumi thing seems stupid, there couldnt have been more then 20 season tix holders in my section last year and half way through the year they put something down that you could change you seat beceuase that sections was basically turning into a GA section.
Sorry about the tangent but has bugged me for years.

Some observations on Eric Knodel's play during the first day of Toronto's Development Camp:
"Eric Knodel - Impressed. He didn't play a single minute of hockey last year but played a very good game. Good positioning. Would have liked to seen him throw some more hits. Jumped in the attacking zone a few times which was a pleasant surprise." (http://draft-schmaft.blogspot.com/2011/07/thoughts-on-leafs-development-camp.html).

Sounds like we cant expect some nice things this year from Knodel, can't wait to see him out there, if he learns to use his size more will have some strong D and see Hardowa keep improving could be fun to watch

Have had it confirmed by someone who had a GA season ticket last year, they are gone - no ability to renew.

Make it general admission w/ a discounted price for recent alumni. Not sure what you'd do with the opposing fans though, presuming they've already sold season tickets in the corner over the entrance way where they used to be put.

The 2011-2012 roster is up:

http://www.unhwildcats.com/sports/mice/2011-12/roster

Four goalies...does that mean Tyler Scott stays and finishes his senior year with essentially no ice time?
It's been a long time since four goalies were on the roster.
With all the high scorers, they'll need 4 goalies to get through practice.;)
Noticed that Casey Thrush is not on this roster list and Jay Camper is.

This is the same roster that's been up for about a month now. I've been checking it frequently to ensure Downing remained on it (so far so good). I imagine they just haven't updated it since it's original release.

Are my eyes deceiving me or are there actually no Uni # changes? The number jumble is a yearly tradition!

Love the fact that they note Moses as the "alternate" captain.....someone must have been reading my rants over the years. "Assistant Captain" has got to be my top sports pet peeve.
