UNH Men’s Hockey 22-23: the start of something new, or more of the same?

You have no idea…about what this AD thinks about UNHs future prospects…none. And of course you’d make this political. Insulting to the purpose of the effort of this HC and his player featured.

At this point I am 100% behind our players who are just trying to salvage something out of what has to be for them a difficult season. What happens to the coach is a big unknown at this point. It’s like you want them to lose…

well I don’t know why I bothered to respond to this in the first place. Just a woke clueless fan I guess…
Egads! You actually watched a video posted by GrouchyCHUCKer? The horror. lol

Lies, damn lies and statistics. :P

It couldn't have been that egregioius otherwise he would not have played last night.

The offense and its severity is subjective, but I think being banned from a local establishment is a bad look for the team and the image they portray, and is worthy of some punishment.

Hey Snives, have the Cats ever started 3 home grown kids before? I sure don’t remember it.

Excellent question and I do not know the answer. But, it was not long ago that we were lamenting on these threads about all the home grown kids signing on elsewhere. As a sidelight, homegrown Casey DeSmith now has 118 NHL games under his belt, with still a long ways to catch Ty Conklin with 216 NHL games, but I am still very happy for him.

What a tease. ;-) Is “Be good or be gone” close?

Big difference with Coach Souza whose predecessor suspended players for being in the vicinity of whatever did happen or even might have happened.

Anyone remember a few years ago when we had a competitive team and Coach Umile told the team that he did not want them celebrating in the downtown bars after a big win at the Whitt. When word got back that several on the team had disobeyed him, Umile suspended them for the next game, which I think was an important one for PWR or something.

There might be some validity to your question.

Definitely. Was it a win at the Whitt or a Boston (RedSox?) sports championship?

That sounds more familiar, but if a Sox WS championship, would have been an early season UNH game without PWR import.

Sox completed four-game WS sweep at Busch on 27 October 2004, with next UNH game on 5 November, a 4-3 win over BU at the Whitt.

Next Sox WS sweep was completed at Coors on 28 October 2007, with next UNH game on 2 November, a 7-4 win at NU.

Finally, last Sox WS win while Umile was UNH coach occurred on 30 October 2013 when Sox bested Cards at Fenway in six games, with next UNH games on 1-2 November, 5-3 and 3-2 ot losses at Tsongas. So maybe UNH was short-handed for one or both of these two games?

I can't think of a single element of coaching that Coach Umile didn't do better than Coach Souza. Not one.

Good sleuthing, Darius. In summary, after eight players were suspended for visiting the Main Street riot in downtown Durham after the Yankees beat the Sox in the AL championship series and the Cats beat Mac at the Whitt in mid-October 2003, the Cats played shorthanded the following weekend at the Punch Imlach tourney in Buffalo, beating Canisius but losing to our old nemesis Niagara. Cats went on to post a 20-15-6 record, winning two of three against PC in the first HEA round for a trip to the Garden where they lost 5-2 to UMass, and then lost 4-1 to Michigan in the first game at the NCAA Manchvegas regional.
