CDS to Montreal

Honestly puzzled why Pittsburgh seemed so intent to move on from CDS. Was it salary demands? CDS seemed to have given them a better than average back-up goalie these last few years, and I believe they also signed their top guy Jarry to an extension not so long ago. Did CDS want to have a legitimate chance to compete for a top job then? All I know is that Pittsburgh replaced CDS with the daunting DRW goalie depth chart of Alex Nedjelkovicz (sp?) and Magnus Hellberg after Yzerman decided neither was worth his time any longer. So Pittsbugh's goalie depth has taken a hit, no doubt. And good luck to DeSmith with Les Habitants!!

Just realized CDS was part of the 3-team trade that got Erik Karlsson (sp?) from San Jose to Pittsburgh, and it looks like Montreal's prime role was to facilitate some salary drop from Pittsburgh to make it fly (plus reunite with their former defenseman Jeff Petry). Still, a decent opportunity for CDS with a still-rebuilding Original Six team. And now that the Swayman arb hearing is resolved, wondering if the B's are gonna stick with their now close to $9MM goalie tandem, and look to shed more salary elsewhere on their roster? I suspect CDS would have been a better fit with the B's than fellow UNH alum JvR will be. LOT more tread on CDS' tires than with JVR ...

Hey Chuck, hope you checked the Union thread....

Geez *thanks* Felgie! It's so considerate of you to think of me when Woke stupidity perks up somewhere ... ;-)

... now I'll have less time to annoy the folks on the Magoo thread in the Faculty Lounge!

From looking at the UNH recruits it seems Souza's going big, lots of 6'2 or bigger recruits wonder why? They also have 6 foreign players committed including current players, quite a switch from the past. So UNH needs a couple smaller players and they should look at Cooper Dennis plays for Bishop Kerney 5'5 and has a heck of a snap shot,You listening Mike.

This is obviously arranged primarily by UMaine, given the beneficiary charity (Alfond) in question.

Meaning that to UMaine, UNH is basically seen as being at the level of a "homecoming" opponent. Nice.

Gosh, March 2002 seems like forever ago now, doesn't it ...

Tickets should go for a pretty penny given the place probably has about 1,000 seats (insert eyeroll here).

Let's be fair, Dale ... capacity is 1,796. UMaine folks are quoting $20 a pop, so that's a total take of $35,000-ish.

Move the game an hour south to Portland, and you can probably fill 3-4 times as many seats ... wonder why not??

My guess, Colby is "donating" the ice time and the Civic Center won't. Still a sad sign of the times when these two once great teams are playing at a rinky dink venue, charity or not.

This looks more like kick the tires and see what ya got out there....borderline plain old scrimmage with charity benefit money that gives the coaches a chance to try out different line combos, goalies and the like. Doubt it will revert to any animosity on the ice, probably not many if any hard hits. Think NHL all star game intensity without the stars.

Waterville is roughly halfway between the two schools so it makes sense to play there. It would cost a fortune to play at CCCC. I believe it is owned/run by Comcast and they gouge anyone who wants to use it.

Actually Bowdoin would be much closer to halfway between the two schools. But I dont think Alfond ever did anything for Bowdoin did he?. They had enough out of state woke money already :-)

Didn't we used to play Canadian teams for this purpose (albeit with a bit more physicality)? Just seems a bit strange, but I guess it's going to support an apparent good cause.

Just MS7 igniting hard feelings betwix the two schools to help generate more buzz on the uNH campus....helps with job security when the cats take down da bears 8 to 1 in Hooterville in what will be dubbed as the Octoberfest New England Championship.

Seems fitting for the perennial "Champions of November/October/Columbus Day Weekend" ...

Would like to hope that they will announce the incoming class this week, and that they are hopefully on campus. It could appear that Hahn and Lavins have not checked in. Lavins is understandable but Hahn?
Very tough opening 9 games, it will be quite the test. I like the exhibition but have always liked a warm up game. Not sure I will attend. In the past it would have been a must see. Any word on the streaming for this tears HE games?
