The AD is certainly the AD for ALL sports, but most posters are not coming to this thread because the AD is showing such strong support for the skiing or swimming & diving teams (2 other UNH NC$$ sports). We are most concerned with THE premier sport (well used to be) at UNH, the one that has given the highest national profile. Also the sport that has driven the largest increase in student APPLICATIONS that directly equates to more asses in the majority of Durham dorm rooms, hence more university revenue.
I am sure the AD at Michigan, and even BC, support ALL of the sports, but they are 100% tuned into the fact that their job depends on the health of the revenue sports.
Agree 100% here...that said, if UNH really cared about said revenues then the premiere sport we all love and support would have received the attention it desperately needed 10 years ago...
My point about the AD and those other sports (which many of here enjoy, like football, soccer and of course, field hockey, sport of the Gods) is that she is much more on board at
least in my view, in outward support of said charges. And yeah, that does NOT win HE championships. I'm just not sure, given the history at the U, that the AD's job has been
contingent on the overall success/revenues of their money makers. It should...but it hasn't.
Conversation piece: can we/should we/ expect that UNH is the same at BC, BU who have mega sports budgets? And, how is UNH actually coping with the (has to be) obvious
change in season ticket holders and butts in the seats? The 'Whitt did ok if you ask me last year, for the most part from the 'eye test' and I know people went to football games.
