UNH Hockey 2023-2024 Season Thread - End Of The Cellar-Dweller Era??

Probably a couple dozen in the Portland area alone, right? Rivals the other Portland on the left coast.

Doubt if I'll try this IPA...I mean, as one would expect, am a BUD LIGHT fan. Ha! Regardless, I'm sure this will be a big hit at the 'Whitt...

HR's early prediction for Friday: BU 4 UNH 2

One does get the impression that drinking (heavily) will be a key factor in surviving the next couple of seasons of UNH Hockey. Put me down for a sound 5-1 thrashing at the hands of BU on Friday night ...

I think the 'Cats will hang tough with BU for the first two periods, the Terriers did struggle with Bentley last week. BU 5-2 (with an ENG)

Scott, you took my post with stunning accuracy. We seem to be able to hold them (historically) until the third. My daughter used to say that Jack gave them “Jack Juice”. between the second and third period. We can imagine how that sounded!

No chance. This is 5-1 or 6-1 territory to start the season. the team may be ok D wise but will struggle to score goals. Which will result in pressing and then giving up late goals to make the score worse than it should be.

Anyone know if tickets are still available for the Quinnipiac Friday evening game? The BU and second Quinnipiac games are on NESN, which will save me driving 360 miles.

Snives, I may have my four tickets available for next friday. I am at volleyball for my daughter so we can't go, just need to check on the first offer out there. If they can't use them any/all are yours.

Many thanks, norbert. Please keep us posted. Would be really cool if the Whitt returns to some sell out crowds this season, with best chance being the first three games, I think.

BU indeed did struggle at Bentley last Saturday as the Falcons played tenacious defense and had good break outs from their own zone with fairly even puck possession time the entire game. BU did clang the posts a couple of times, which obviously kept Bentley in the game.

Like others here, I am thinking that UNH could be in this game through the third, and give up an ENG to lose 4-2.

Hey hope to see you tonight! Go 'Cats!

So far, no one has the cojones to pick a UNH win. OR ... it simply confirms everyone is still holding onto their sanity.

Weird thoughts occurring to me recently at the intersection of USCHO and UNH Hockey, in no particular order:

* Do you suppose any of the UNH kids following the board here has ever slipped up and called Souza "MS7" at practice?
* Along those lines ... do you think MS7 ever slipped up and called the former AD "Blue Skies", or even "Godfaddah"?!?
* Speaking of our paisan former AD ... do you think he bothers to follow the fortunes of his final employer? (me neither)
* Former USCHO poster "dabigbadcow" is now a D-1 Head Coach in the NEWHA; how long before UNH gives him a call?
* What are the chances of norbert getting an interview with AD Rich, after playing "nice in the sandbox" with MS7?
* Wouldn't it be great if "Key Auto Group Complex" commandeered the UNH Dairy Bar and expanded it to a gastropub?
* How weird must it be for 'Watcher when someone wants to debate him on Heisenberg's D-1 "blue chippah" ratings?
* Can anyone on here say with certainty that they've ever seen Darius and Dean Dean together, in the same place??
* Do you think MS7 has ever threatened to pull players' scholarships if he ever found them messing around on USCHO?
* How hilarious would it be if it turned out that Coach Umile was the comic genius behind "Jacques Porriveau" et als??

Feel free to weigh in on any of the above lunacy, or expand with your own thoughts/suspicions/lunacy. Craps & giggles.

Maybe someday we can go back to discussing some real college hockey ... getting a real D-1 HC would be a start ...

This visiting fan is thinking of making the trip up tonight. Looking forward to the game and trying a "GO Cats" IPA.

Is there a section that the "visitors" typically sit? And - have you recently been able to just buy tickets at the walk up windown?

I'll join in the predictions. I think UNH plays BU tough, but we (BU) end up pulling out a close one. 4-3.

Unlikely that tonight's game is a sellout, you should be able to walk in to The Whitt and buy a ticket at the window. If you plan on purchasing alcohol, be sure to get a loge seat, the seats behind the goals are mainly for the student section, and alcohol consumption is not allowed. I may be wrong, but I don't believe that they have special seating areas for visiting fans.

Perhaps I missed it but we have a new goal tending coach, Sean Maguire from BU.
Guess I am of surprised but it still amazes me that there is such a lack of communication from the team….you know who you are.

Yes I saw that and forgot to mention...On another note, for all you field hockey enthusiasts, UNH is 5-0 in the America East and
is trouncing the Blackbears 5-0 at the moment as we speak! This is the best UNH team they've had for
awhile; we'll see if they can get an AE championship. Carry on...

It's finally GAME DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Go 'Cats

Ps..make that 6 zip which is not to disparage the Black Bears they have had some great seasons as of late.
