UNH Hockey 2023-2024 Season Thread - End Of The Cellar-Dweller Era??

Perhaps make the seemingly annual matchup with in-state Dartmouth a pre-season exhibition game at the SNHU Arena, like the olden days of the Riverstone Cup? Make the game half of a double-header with a couple non-Div 1 in-state teams amongst SHNU, St Anselms, NEC, PSU, and the like in the undercard game. So not exactly the Cow Hampsha Beanpot that you have been promoting, but at least a hockey night in Manchvegas.

I kinda ruled out Dartmouth, since I think the Ivies (if not the rest of the ECAC) start their seasons a couple of weeks later than the Hockey East schools. FWIW I don't think Dartmouth gives a rat's patooey about developing hockey anywhere, other than their own rink. I wish that were not the case, but it seems that it is. I'd rather do stuff to encourage the rest of the NH college programs. I mean, if Merrimack can be a D-1 hockey school, then why not SNHU and/or St. Amselm's, right? Or, like you say, do a doubleheader with two D-3 programs as the other game. JMHO.

Heard from someone at the game all coaches were very involved with the team and that the on ice leadership looked solid. The new players seemed to have some plus sides. We'll see how they do v BU...wonder why that game is at 8:00??? Kind of messes up my plans for later ha! Go 'Cats!

Ps..Thanks all who commented with their views of how things went. Reading Maine fan posts about the game (not on this forum) you'd think they hung a banner. Oh, wait....

If solid leadership = 14 minutes of penalties (including 6 minutes from veteran players who should know better) then have I got a land deal for you just outside of the Everglades :-) :-)

Anyone know if tickets are still available for the Quinnipiac Friday evening game? The BU and second Quinnipiac games are on NESN, which will save me driving 360 miles.

Unless the games are at Jackson's Landing you can probably get seats anywhere you like at the Whit.

Dartmouth played an exhibition game this past weekend, FWIIW.

Did not someone point out here last year that neither SNHU nor St Anselm’s wanted to play Div 1, for whatever reasons?

Just received info about parking for STH's - Nesmith lot, and the Zaiz Hall lot on College Road. We used to park there all of the time back in the day, so I guess that it's better than nothing.

STH Membership cards are now in a download format. Joy. (pppffftt) Just one more reason why we need to relay on having our damm phones to attend a college hockey game.

Has something changed with parking at the Whit? Was considering coming up for Friday's game. Parking has always seemed pretty easy, at least to this visiting fan....

Both great options. Nesmith is a huge win for season tix holders. I used park there way back when the challenge was to be home in Manch by 10:00 PM

No, the fan parking (A lot) is still the same and along the street (along Strafford Ave) are still viable places to park if you get there early
enough...this is more geared towards STH's....

ok so I took a pic of my STH card thing for parking and all the other bennies that come with. Wonder tho...what stops someone from just sharing that
with anyone else who's looking for closer parking? From what I can tell it doesn't have a bar code etc on it that distinguishes who's using it etc...

I imagine every school does this now. Had this three weeks ago, and it was my first encounter with the concept (also my first in-person football game ever).

I think it is pretty common …. BU had “24” a “red IPA” (tribute to Travis Roy) available at Agganis for a couple of years. Not sure if it is still on the menu for this coming year or not. I think it was Dorchester Brewing.

Does Orono still have three different craft breweries? Strange that Durham still does not have one, although besides Deciduous in Newmarket, I think that there are a couple in Dover, several in Portsmouth, and one in Northwood. Others nearby?
Orono Brewing, Marsh Island Brewing and Black Bear brewing.
There are over a hundred micro breweries in Maine. They are everywhere.

Probably a couple dozen in the Portland area alone, right? Rivals the other Portland on the left coast.
