UNH Football 2009

Re: UNH Football 2009

I'd feel badly for you guys, but my community bank in Virginia has this crazy deposit account where you get a quarter-point increase in APR for each regular season win, and half-point for postseason wins.

Makes it easy for out-of-towners to support the "home" team. Go...umm...what are they again...Tribe, that's it. Go Tribe! :)

Re: UNH Football 2009

Agreed. If you take the helmet off and throw it, ok. If you take it off and hold it, how is that in any way hurting the game?

Even amongst W&M fans in the stands, no one liked that penalty. Well, they liked the 15 yards, but, in theory, they hate the rule. ;)

Re: UNH Football 2009

Maine gets on the board first, and UNH ties it up with a short TD run after a nice drive. Mid-way through the first and it's 7-7.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Landis Williams with his ninth TD of the year has Maine out in front 17-7 with 1:03 left in the half.

Re: UNH Football 2009

After a huge Dino Vasso INT and return to the Maine 32, Dante Peters punches it in to tie it up at 17 with 7:23 left in the third.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Oh boy, that looked like a UNH touchdown and they ruled it an INT. Without the replay it's a tough call.

Re: UNH Football 2009

FINAL 27-24.

Congrats UNH on taking the Brice-Cowell musket.

The UNH radio team was kind enough to point out that the Cats will almost certainly avoid the UNI Dome this year, which should put everyone at ease. :)

Re: UNH Football 2009

Good come-from-behind win. Maine fought hard but UNH had the better talent on the field today (it sounded like Maine was really hurt by injuries) and squeaked by.

When is the selection show? Tomorrow, right?

The UHN receiver had the ball and was down inches before going in, and the Maine player took the ball away in the end zone. It should have been either first and goal from inches away or a Wildcat TD. But that's an impossible call for that official to make - where was the official on the near sideline or the back judge who would have had a better view of the play?

Maybe the NCAA will make UNI come to Durham for the playoffs. :p

Losing their best running back and preseason all american selection before the season killed Maine. Not sure if he'll ever be the same, has had 2 surgeries on his groin, time will tell if he still has it.

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH comes back to win 27-24 and pretty much cement their spot in the playoffs. With Cowell Stadium, it's extremely unlikely to impossible we'll get a home date. Cats finish 9-2 on the year, but finish the season rather shaky. I'm not too confident we'll be much more than one and done this year.

Maine is going to be very, very good next season. Starting QB Warren Smith was out today, the nation's best FB Jared Turcotte didn't play a down all year (medical redshirt), and first choice HB Derek Session didn't play today either.

Brusko and Williams are basically the only two losses of note.

Add all that into the fact that Maine was in every game this season in the fourth quarter, and all the experience the youngsters got due to injuries, and look out CAA.

Ya, things definitely look good for the football team in Orono next year.
