UNH Football 2009

Re: UNH Football 2009

Chad Kackert wastes no time as he runs it in from 53 yards out. PAT is good and it's 7-7. About 9:30 remaining in the first.

Re: UNH Football 2009

After an 18 yard punt leaves RI in great shape, the defense holds the Rams to a FG. Late in the first and it's 10-7 URI.

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH responds quickly to the URI FG with a 3 yard Jellison TD run. 2:32 left in the first and it's 14-10 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH making it look easy now as they are just shredding the URI defense. Jellison scores from 2 yards out for his second TD of the game and it's 28-10 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2009

After a bizarre sequence in which UNH intercepts and then fumbles on the next play from scrimmage, URI would eventually punch it in from 2 yards out. They faked the convert but are unable to get 2. So at halftime it's 28-16 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Kackert with his second long TD run of the day, this time from 47 yards out makes the score 35-16 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2009

On their first possession of the second half, URI respond to the UNH TD with a 30 yard TD of their own. Problem is, the TD was scored on a 4th down. It was the second 4th down conversion of the game for URI. The defense will have to get much better for next weeks game against W & M.

UNH 35 - URI 23

9:53 left in the third.

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH playing stupid football has let URI back in this game. After going up 35-16, the offense and defense have gone to crap. After stopping URI on a fourth down at the UNH 40, Toman would fumble the ball on his own 18. URI then punched it in to cut the once 19 point lead to 5.

UNH 35 - URI 30

Re: UNH Football 2009

After a good kick off return by Kackert, the offense goes three and out. Manning hits a 42 yard FG to extend the UNH lead to 8.

UNH 38 - URI 30

Re: UNH Football 2009

No need to worry folks, the shooting you hear from Durham is just the Wildcats emptying their revolver into their foot. After a Hugo Souza INT, the Cats scored a TD. That was called back on an ineligible receiver downfield penalty. The next play was an INT by URI, who then scored on an 80 yard TD run. The 2pt conversion failed so UNH still has a 2 point lead. This is disgusting and getting embarassing.

UNH 38 - URI 36

Re: UNH Football 2009

URI fumble results in a three yard Jellison TD run, his third TD of the day. With 10:39 left the UNH lead is back to 16.

UNH 52 - URI 36

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH defense getting lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree today. Another URI TD and missed 2 pt convert cuts the UNH lead to 10.

UNH 52 - URI 42

Re: UNH Football 2009

UNH allowed URI to get back into a game that they were clearly in control of, but in the end they were just too much for the Rams. Not to take anything from URI though, they played tough and didn't fold their tents. The defense has some work to do before next weeks game against William and Mary. I think they can handle Mary, but William looks awfully tough this year. Cats are now 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the CAA north.

Final score

UNH 55 - URI 42

Re: UNH Football 2009

I guess at the end of the day... the final score is all that matters, but UNH does have some valid concerns: 1) run defense ... it has to be more consistent 2) the offense when it tries to do too much or be too tricky/fancy... we have such amazing weapons, just use them and simply take care of business. 3) PROTECT TOMAN... the kid is running too much. Give it to Jellison and Kackert and let them do the legwork.

I am satisfied with the season so far, but I think we will know a lot more about how good this team really is next week vs Wm & Mary.
