UNH Football 2009

Re: UNH Football 2009

Good to come out with the win and the north division championship today. Maine played a spirited game knowing it was their last game of the season regardless of outcome. I thought the Bears got hosed on the excessive celebration penalty late in the 2nd quarter after going up 17-7, and the penalty enforced on the kickoff gave UNH great field position and led to a big field goal, but I'll take it. Especially after the atrocity of an 'interception' in the fourth. Thankfully that was overcome (it fired up the UNH sideline, and they took care of business the reset of the way).

We'll find out tomorrow afternoon where the Cats will head for the first round, it would be nice, though not likely, if they give them a home game...

Very nice win for the cats. I went up to Orono to see Maine play URI last weekend with a friend who's kid plays for URI. Granted URI is not UNH but Maine moved the ball well. I had a feeling Maine would play us tough.

Here's hoping we get a home game in the playoffs.

Good because Grambling and Penn should be included! I've also found Bigfoot!!!

Oh wait. I'm not Comedy Central. Phew.

Re: UNH Football 2009

neat

just watching some stuff on DVR from yesterday, that TD/INT was definitely a TD, but it happened so fast, just not sure how you give the defender the benefit there, but what can you do...

I got a kick out of the goober announcer, when, during the Field Goal/Timeout/Field Goal situation talking about how it worked out for the kicker since he missed the first kick, when he actually hit it. Ended up hitting it twice, still curious why McDonnell called timeout, but it worked out in the end..

Well, so much for a home playoff game. I wonder how the gate gets shared. In other words, I wonder if UNH comes away with more $$$ this way!! Dunno

Re: UNH Football 2009

Northeastern axes football

Wonder if there was any notice of this, or if they waited until after the season to avoid publicity (?)

Though they weren't very competitive recently, shame to lose another local rival..

Re: UNH Football 2009

Well I think we all knew UNH would end up on the road once they lost to UMass. That game was just a killer. But they've gone on the road in this round and won 3-4 times this decade, so maybe they can do it again.

Villanova up by two touchdowns on Holy Cross. App State having trouble with South Carolina State, tied 10-10 and looking pretty bad; they've picked off the SCSU QB three times and still can't pull away.

Re: UNH Football 2009

SCSU just got screwed bigtime. App St WR fumbled at the SCSU ten with a minute left in the half. SCSU recovered. And somehow, some way, the officials decided he was down. No justification for the call, not even close. And with no replay, they couldn't reverse it.

App St kicks a FG to take a 13-10 lead into halftime.

App State got a call at home? I'm stunned.

Re: UNH Football 2009

SCSU lining up for short FG to take lead midway through the fourth quarter. Center snaps the ball, holder not paying attention, ball goes back 25 yards, kicker can't fall on it, App State scoops it up and returns it for a TD. 20-13.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Game on. Apparently when the UNH site said "Free video streaming", what they meant was "Free as long as you pay for a subscription to McNeese St.".

Re: UNH Football 2009

Toman hits Sicko in the endzone for a 10 yard TD, on the opening drive. 12 minutes left in the first.

UNH 7 - McNeese 0
