UNH Football 2009

Re: UNH Football 2009

Awesome win for the 'Cats. Any idea on a time/TV for next weekend yet?

I heard that the McNugget announcers were absolutly brutal, not to mention offensive, did anyone here listen to them with the video feed?

No on both accounts Josh. I just checked the TSN site and the time of game is listed as TBD. I just listened to the UNH webcast for the football game, but Chad said the good ol' boys were quite entertaining.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Great win. I listened to the first half and then went to the hockey game. Sounds like I missed the best part. It would be nice if, one of these years, UNH caught the break by getting the upset in its quarter of the bracket. But yeah, they could've hosted if they'd have beaten UMass, I know, I know.

W.T.F. happened to SDSU?

That's six of seven years in the quarters, right? Or five of six, anyway?

ESPN Game Plan and ESPN360.com will have the game live.. not sure if it will be picked up locally, but I don't think so (same thing happened w/ No. Iowa I think...)

Re: UNH Football 2009

ComcastSports New England is picking up the Wildcats/Wildcats game at 3:30 on Saturday.

Re: UNH Football 2009

Hofstra called it quits on their football program today. That makes 2 divisional rivals in 2 weeks. That's to go with losing semi-regular OOC whipping boys Iona last season. Rumors surrounding URI aren't particularly encouraging either.

Any prediction on where this lands the program, conference and schedule-wise, over the next several seasons?

Yikes! There goes the North/South divisions in the conference, I'd imagine. And I think other than that the CAA will be fine - I never understood the point of having divisions in the conference without a championship game anyway.

Re: UNH Football 2009

If this means that now we're going to have to play William & Mary every year, it is a very bad thing.;)

In UNH-related news, former UNH OC Chip Kelly is bringing Oregon to the Rose Bowl is his first year as head coach.

While they were setting up the icing field goal, a member of the ESPN announcing team mentioned that 3 years ago Kelly's biggest game was playing Maine for the Brice-Cowell Musket and now he was getting set to play in the Rose Bowl Game.

I can't decide if I'm happy that UNH got any love on ESPN or that I'm stung by the backhandedness of the remark.

ESPN has had a "hair across their butt" about UNH since 2005, when UNH had home field for the playoffs and the ESPN staff ******ed and moaned about the "inadequate broadcast facilities"

I'd be stunned if the 2009 Oregon-Oregon State broadcast team was the same as the 2005 New Hampshire-Colgate or New Hampshire-Northern Iowa teams.

This snow in the Mid-Atlantic is killing me. I hung around near DC so I could attend a couple events in the morning/early afternoon and was resigned to watching UNH on TV. Now, those events are snowed out and there's a wall of snow between me and Philly.

Not pleased.

Not comparing the magnitude of the games you listed, just commenting on ESPN's snide remarks about Chip Kelly's prior coaching stint.:p

Re: UNH Football 2009

In a snowstorm, UNH fumbles on the first play and Villanova runs it back for a TD. :(

Re: UNH Football 2009

I have to assume Villanova won the toss and was able to choose the wind in the first quarter, knowing UNH would end up with the ball first. Right? Because if UNH won the toss and took the ball, that was a huge mistake.

Re: UNH Football 2009

This game is how you say......over.

10:28 left in the first half and it's 24-0 Villanova.

Not sure UNH has had an offensive play of more than 2 yards yet. Maybe next year?

Re: UNH Football 2009

Dean, tried to catch you on Yahoo IM earlier, but to no avail. UNH has just surrendered a safety (Toman hit and fumbled out of the end zone). The drive started for UNH at their own 1 yd line. Seriously, I don't think UNH has done one good thing all day.

Really poor game plan by McDonnell today in what has been a driving snowtorm all day in Philly. My God.... from the first snap of the ball for UNH (a Toman botched handoff that turned into a fumble that was returned by Villanova for a TD), UNH has been chasing the game.

Full marks to Villanova, though. They are CLEARLY the better team. Maybe on a neutral site or at UNH, the Cats can hang with them, but today has been an utter abomination. Effing dismal performance from UNH -- from the coaching staff right on down to the players on the field.

It will be a very long offseason of "what ifs" for Toman & Co. They have a very long way to go if they intend to move from pretenders to contenders in future NCAA tournaments.
