I've got CBH in this one!
And you?
Same!!!! Let's Go 'Hawks!!
Last Original Six team skating. You root for BC at the FF, don't'cha?
Per Chris Heisenberg defenseman John Furgele is transferring to Quinnipiac from UNH. Eligible in 2017 season. He is already 23 and has a January 1993 birthday. 2 years of eligibility when he will be playing at ages 24/25 and 25/26.
JF continues the UNH pipeline to Quinnipiac. But, he will be old and slow by the time he is a senior.
Chuck asked the Blues to "show me," and apparently they did.
Yes they did. Good for them FWIW. I hope they run the table from here on out. That's been a solid hockey city for a half decade since the original expansion, and they've deserved better. Maybe this will be their year?
The Furgele-to-Quinnipiac transfer is *interesting*. Pecknold must see something most of us haven't.

Rand probably see's him a plug in play guy. We are losing 4 defensemen after next season and we need some experience back there. I have faith that Pecknold/Reid Cashman can make him work in their system.
Am looking for this info online...? Not doubting it....
Nothing online yet but I trust Chris Heiseneberg's page because he is rarely wrong.

Furgele will be, what, 24 when he's a junior? Will certainly fit into Quinnipiac's age profile. Personally, him leaving is a meh to me. Guys who come in at 21 usually don't have much upside, otherwise they would have already played a couple of years of college and perhaps moved on.
UNH has had some undersized defensemen (5'10" or less) who have overachieved defensively and/or offensively. Kevin Kapstad and Brett Kostolansky (both were 19/20-year-old freshman) come to mind. I don't think 5'10" Furgele (21/22 years old as a freshman) showed signs of overachieving in his two years at UNH. He played in 36 out of 40 games as a freshman (2 goals and 8 assists, -5) and all 37 games as a sophomore. This season, he scored 1 goal (no power play goals) and 12 assists, had 14 penalties and a +/- rating of -15.
By contrast, Matt Dawson a 19-year-old, 5'10" freshman defenseman played in 35 out of 37 games, scored 4 goals (including 2 power play goals) and 6 assists, had 6 penalties and a +/- rating of +3. One could argue that Dawson has a higher ceiling in potential improvement than Furgele.
