UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

You should do that for the confusion factor alone… a UNH fan in a Maine jersey at the bean pot. I think that would cause BU fans to lose their marbles if you told them.
Have to laugh am wearing my UNH hat and that Bowdoin jersey walking through the concourse had 2 jeers one for each team haha

Wow unreal atmosphere here at the TD for the BC v NU game...and yeah...our 'Cats will have their paws full Friday. BC is fast can see a ton of UNH penalties.

Fun to be here...

It's notable that UNH has the 2nd worst conference save percentage while allowing the 2nd fewest shots.

Is Whale that bad? To my eye, no.

Tons of defense lapses in their own zone?

Bad defensive positioning?

*apologies for the wonky table formatting. they're a little glitchy - but nice to have the upgraded features post server change

Are the SOG against just HEA conference team games? If so, wow, what a disparity between Mac and UNH. Unbelievable, especially because our blue line was supposed to be so experienced this season.

I heard back from AD Rich yesterday. It was of no shock what her response was but it lends to the deafness of UNH Hockey. The points she made were:

1. There is a season ticket holder event in the summer where the coaches and she can meet with loyal hockey supporters
2. Team works incredibly hard to put best product on the ice
3. HE is the most competitive conference in the country with 8 teams in the top 20 including UNH (Ill timed point after a 7-2 beat down that removed us from this).
4. To elevate our conference standing and get the best talent we need to upgrade the facilities and will provide a timeline when they know

I am beyond tired of hearing this Whit renovation is the key to the future. And by the way, I was told fall it would start based on a conversation with the Project Manager for the project. Does she not know this? I am not saying this team should be on the pursuit for the trophy, but largely a team that won 20 games last year and can't get out of their own way now. This is coaching. You need talent to win, but you can coach up an average team to be better.

If someone forks out the dough for Souza's buyout if the skid continues, are you all high on Ayers to take over or are there any other guys you'd want to see them go after? Would someone like Eric Lang be on your list as well? Just curious, as BC fan, UNH seems like Ayers most logical destination to leave for a HC role

Pretty close!
Wouldn't it be great if NH had a similar event in Manchester, 'Ref? I mean ... CT has figured this out, why not us??

Sounds like you had a good time down in the Hub O' the Universe. Haven't been going for the last 10 years or so, but before than I was pretty much a regular from the late '70's, so that's about 35 years ... some of my best memories were from the old building, when the event was less posh and more gritty. BU vs. BC of course is the epitome, and it was virtual combat back in the day.

Folks are free to disagree, but The Beanpot is probably 75-80% of the reason for the vast chasm of the competitive delta between the BU, BC and the rest of HEA. The visibility, the regular every year competition, familiarity with the building once the HEA tournament rolls around the month after ... the fact that it's an NHL building doesn't hurt with recruiting, either. Until/unless UNH and UMaine - which otherwise is the best of the remaining blood rivalries in HEA - come up with something remotely similar, HEA will continue to revolve around Boston ...

No on Ayer’s. We need to remove any legacy from the Umile family and start fresh

I think we need to be open minded about players who came up under Umile. Many have followed very different paths, several who have coached at far higher levels than MS7. It would be silly to dismiss guys like Ayers or (say) Boguniecki out of hand, just because they played for Umile a generation ago. Ayers has been exposed to a whole new world (BC) and Bogey (and others) have coached at pro levels far beyond what the current UNH staff has been exposed to. These guys are hardly what Luce Canaan himself referred to as "Dick Umile's nephew" ...

I’m not objected to anyone. My request is that they do a national search and find the best candidate. Let’s not just give the job to someone because they are a UNH alumni. If Ayer’s is the best fit for the job then that’s fine but let’s not jump the gun.

I remember the “what’s if’s” about St A’s, SNHU, and/or another NH Div 3 team going Div 1 to make up a local “NH Beanpot” with UNH and Dartmouth. But did we discuss a “Northern New England Beanpot” rotated between Manchvegas and Portland hosting a two-day event with UNH, Dartmouth, UVM, and Maine, like the CT Ice Tournament (Quinnipiac, Vlae, Yukon, and Sacred Wallet)?

I see one, maybe two wins for the remainder of the season. This will keep them living in the HE basement, where apparently the accomodations are comfortable (forever pessimistic!!) copyright Jellsville ;)

A quick exit in the HE tourney, then hope for a resignation letter from Souza. (forever pessimistic!!) copyright Jellsville ;)
I am with you Scott. Full disclosure, I renewed my season tix this year (had them for 22 years prior to cancelling in 2017). It appeared last season that the team was turning the corner from a significant drought (20 wins with most coming back). I honestly felt the only question mark was goaltending. I have watched every minute of every game this year. My conclusion is that the boys are not being coached (I really wanted to give MS7 the benefit of the doubt). Warmups lack the organization, commitment to detail they had under Umile. During the games there is not much communication between the coaches and players. Before games I see some team building but no organization. The BU game was certainly an off game for Whale, but some of our top line forwards were out of position in the defensive end creating high risk opportunities, and more pressure on our blue liners. I do think it is time to make a coaching change. Say it ain't so, but Souza's gotta go!! I would be all in on Ayers! (Forever Optimistic!).

Andrew Poturalski gets a call up to the Sharks tonight and will play in tonight's game via Montreal (7:30 PT). Potsy is currently the leading scorer in the AHL with 41 points.
(Via CHC)

Maybe he's available for Friday?

Are you kidding?!?! He has immense contacts that would benefit our recruiting. Hear you on the legacy piece but he IMHO would be an exception.

Plymouth State would give us a run for our money...not sure how they are doing this season?
