As much as I'd like to predict the Sioux to sweep, I believe this will be a tough serires. No Genoway. Mariucci. The 4-0 Sioux victory in Grand Forks is a distant memory. It was a complete embarassment for the Gophers. If it happens in Minneapolis I will be shocked.

It'll happen, the gophers will take a crap and will run away.

Sioux Sweep, maybe not a 4-0 win for the Sioux, but a couple closer games.

Since Dirty is going to give an accurate prediction, I'll sandbag a little.

Fri: UND 5 UMN 150
Sat: UND forfeits in the 3rd down 26-0 after a vicious brawl breaks out between the entire UND bench and Goldy the Gopher. Lucia and Hakstol throw down at center ice after Hakstol tells Lucia that his hair looked better when he had a mullet and that his hair is lacking in the proper quantity of hair gel.

EDIT: The result is that the league forces UND to change their nickname to the Goons and surrender last season's McNaughton Cup to Minnesota.

Gophers take 3 points. I admit, this is more of a hope than a prediction.

An another note, could this be the last Gophers vs. sioux regular season matchup? Is the August 1st (or whatever it is) deadline still in effect for the und to drop the sioux nickname? If so, what is the leading candidate for the new name? Will they pick a new name at all, or will they go with just the und hockey team? What is the current status of that? Not so inquiring minds would like to know. I'm not looking to hijack the thread, I'm just looking for a quick update on the current status. I don't want to move the conversation away from the games itself.

Might be the night you're trying. Some events they won't take reservations for so if that one is going on the same night (like a Twins playoff game) they won't take any reservations.
