More from Scanlon's article today about Jonsson, with the qoute below based off Troy Thibodeau, assistant for Tri-City (was Director of Hockey Ops at Lowell).

“He’s an undersized, offensive defenseman. He’s a very good skater. He’s very good with the puck. He’s very mature. His biggest asset is his skating ability, and his hockey IQ. He’s kind of a new-age defenseman. I think he’ll be an impact player (at UMass Lowell) right away,” Thibodeau said.

He equates him to Jon McDonald.

- Clark Kerner currently leads the NCDC is scoring.
- Des Moines will open their season this weekend after their first 2 games were postponed.
- The CCHL is currently working on a return to play plan, which includes no checking.

Love seeing that. He and Fowler are two of the "big" gets on our commit list.

Albeit, our list of 11 commits is a bit smaller than the 29 UMass has.

Neutral Zone has him as a 3.75* recruit. He was a Sacred Heart commit.

From their USHL Draft recap notes: Crasa played is midget hockey at South Kent before heading to the BCHL last season with Cowichan Valley. Scored 44 pts, including 25 goals in 51 games for the Capitals in 2019-2020. He is light on his feet and shifty. Uses his edges well to escape pressure and make defenders miss. Accelerates quickly and can separate easily. He is athletic and attacks defenders directly. Good hands to break down defenders in space and can also make plays in tight. Quick release on his shot.

If 29 is not enough....

Massachusetts picked up a pair of Ivy League seniors, who will technically be graduate transfers — though they will not be playing for the team until next fall — Cornell's Cam Donaldson and Dartmouth's Matt Baker. Donaldson was 5-13—18 last season, and had 12 goals as a sophomore for the Big Red. Baker was 6-18—24 for the Big Green as a junior. The Minutemen already had three other transfers on their roster, for different reasons.

Have to wonder how some of these schools will manage their rosters. I know not all 6 seniors at UMass will return for their additional year of eligibility, but according to Heisenberg's site, UMass has 20 incoming commit eligible to come in 2021. I'm sure they can push a few, but add two incoming transfers ... just seems crazy. They only have 8 juniors currently as well.

They seem to have some flexibility to push a few. The Hawks not so much with 5 ('00) that will have to come in.
 
UML commit Matt Crasa (Fargo, USHL) had three goals in two games over the weekend. Owen Fowler (Des Moines, USHL) got his first goal of the year last week, while his teammate Scout Truman has now gone 8 games without a point. Isac Jonsson (Tri City, USHL) had an assist each in their last two games.

Seeing that one of the Top '05s in the country, Ryan Leonard (brother of John) will most likely commit to UMass on August 1st. Another big get for the Minutemen.
