UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

It's an interesting issue that's facing coaches/teams this offseason. I know Jimmy mentioned it during the last couple of broadcasts, whether certain players will want to come back for a fifth season, which of course throws the roster for a loop.

- The AJHL returned to action last night. Roc Truman had an assist on the game winning goal in Bonnyville's 3-1 win. Owen Cole was held scoreless in a 4-2 Brooks win.

- BCHL Board of Governors Approve 2021 Season | BCHL League Site. The condensed season will begin the first week of April. Recruit Ben Brunette was traded to Powell River in January.

- I'm not sure if Aidan Harper is injured. He has not played since February 9, missing 8 games. Aidan led the NCDC in GAA (1.61) and SV% (.943) for the regular season. The Rockets Hockey Club begins playoff play next weekend. Divisions (usphl.com)

A nice start for Ben Brunette in the BCHL, 6 points in 6 games (2-4-6)

Isac Jonsson is listed as injured on the line charts and has not played since 3/19/21. Isac has 19 points (3-16-19) in 34 games.

USHL playoffs to begin this weekend. Five UMass Lowell commits will be in action: Isac Jonsson (Tri-City), Matthew Crasa (Fargo), Owen Fowler and TJ Schweighardt (Omaha), and Gabe Blanchard (Sioux City).

The BCHL season will end on May 11 with no playoffs. Ben Brunette currently has 9 points (3-6-9) in 14 games played for Powell River.

The AJHL season will end on May 9th. Owen Cole currently has 12 points (4-8-12) in 14 games played for Brooks. Roc Truman has 5 points (0-5-5) in 13 games played for Bonnyville.

So he'll be 21.5 years old before he takes the ice at Lowell. I really wish Norm would change things up in that regard.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought Schweighardt would be coming in next season due to the departures on defense. At the moment there's 8 defensemen (McDonald, Austin, Korencik, Schulting, Meehan, Engum, Blanchard and Jonsson) for next year. I believe they have room for one more, Brunette?

Not sure if he'll be in as a walk-on, 3rd string keeper this year, and push Harper out another year?

Barry Scanlon tweeted this out earlier today: "UMass Lowell nets commitment from Edvard Nordlund, a goaltender from Sweden. Nordlund went 9-5-3 with .902 save percentage for Danbury of the NAHL. It was his first season in North America. Will be freshman in fall."

Owens is a 3.25* recruit according to Neutral Zone, and is already 21. Rheaume is 3.5* and will be entering school next year at the age of 20.

August 1st hit and the big names picked up a bunch of big names (6 USNDTP) commits. The '05 rush has started, with UMass picking up one that will be on this year's USNDTP. I'll admit I'm a bit surprised that John Leonard's brother chose BC instead of following his brother's footsteps to hometown UMass.

Since Lowell's last commitment (not in the 2021 class), BC has picked up 5 new commits, BU 4, UConn 3, Maine 7, UMass 3, Merrimack 1, Northeastern 4, PC 2, UVM 1. Only UNH doesn't have one (in Hockey East) in that time frame.

Only Merrimack has as few future (2022 onwards) commitments as Lowell at this point with 9 each. Amherst has 22.
