UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Re: UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

He. Can play. Barry talked to coach this year hope we play

Interesting only one player on that list is committed, and it's Brunette. The player that led all rookies in scoring (Dovar Tinling, an '03) has a brother that's committed to UVM.
I pointed this one out a couple of months ago for a reason. The younger brother has also now committed to UVM (Dovar Tinling).

Brett is an '00 and is listed by Neutral Zone as a 3.5/5. He was taken in the 12th round (#169) by Sioux City. He currently plays in the BCHL.

Roloson is a decent player who seemed to find a spot in Powell River. He sees the ice well and has good offensive upside (certainly better hands than his dad). I think that he should stay in the BCHL this year rather than move again to play in the USHL. He will get more ice time.

Thanks for the information.

he seemed to do pretty good for himself with that half ice saucer pass

NAHL draft took place today.

Lowell Alum Dwayne Roloson's son (who was also taken in this year's USHL draft) was picked in the 2nd Round by Shreveport. No Lowell commits were chosen (I don't believe).

@MarkDivver 2h.
@UVMmhockey announces freshmen class, including promising '03 Dovar Tinling. At 17, Tinling will be one of youngest players in college hockey. Eligible for '21 NHL Draft.
@MikeMcMahonCHN raised possibility of Tinling accelerating several weeks ago.

Barry Scanlon
Forward Brett Roloson, the son of ex-UMass Lowell star goaltender Dwayne Roloson, commits to Lake Superior. Roloson a forward for Powell River of the BCHL.

The UMass '03 commit was ranked by Jeff Cox as one of the top 5 uncommitted 2003 born players. And the '04 is the grandson of UMass' retired coach Toot Cahoon.

The reason for the large number of commits was that August 1st was the day kids heading into their junior year could finally make their "commitments."

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols Will Not Participate In 2020-21 USHL Season.

The RoughRiders home arena, the ImOn Ice Arena incurred substantial damage during an August 10, 2020 derecho storm. The Capitols face significant county restrictions related to COVID-19 that affect their ability to practice, play and host spectators.

A dispersal draft will be held for the players currently on both team’s rosters. Both teams plan to resume play for the 2021-22 USHL season.

Recruit Aidan Harper finished last season with the RoughRiders. Owen Cole was drafted by Cedar Rapids for this season. I'm not sure if he planned to play for Cedar Rapids or stay in the CCHL.

The United States Hockey League (USHL) completed a dispersal draft Monday for players that were on the rosters and affiliate lists of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols for the 2019-20 season. All players that have junior hockey eligibility for the upcoming 2020-21 season were eligible to be selected by USHL Member Clubs.

Aidan Harper was taken by Waterloo. Interesting that Chicago took Ben Meehan.

“Meehan is currently at UMass-Lowell where we expect he will play this season, but we will add him to our college defection list,” said Hardy.”https://www.chicagosteelhockeyteam.com/news_article/show/1123928

Clark Kerner and Aidan Harper are playing for New Jersey in the NCDC, which is part of the USPHL. Through 2 games Kerner has 2G, 3A, and 20PIM. Harper is 2-0-0, and has allowed 1 goal on 51 shots.

Ben Meehan was the only River Hawk drafted yesterday in the NHL Draft, as he went in the 5th Round (Pick 140) to the Kings. The Kings actually traded up to get him.

Hockey East teams:
4 players drafted: BU, UMass, Northeastern
3: BC, Providence
2: UConn, Merrimack, UNH
1: Lowell
0: Maine, UVM

I saw this on the ASU thread, interesting.

ASU is making a push to recruit Minnesota hockey talent:

MINNESOTA HOCKEY RECRUITING FUND

The Minnesota Hockey Recruiting Fund is an invaluable resource that is used to provide a competitive edge for the Sun Devil Ice Hockey coaching staff to recruit the top talent in the state of Minnesota.
This fund was created by Chuck Inderieden ’87, a Minnesota native and avid hockey fan, to ensure the coaching staff has the opportunity to recruit Minnesota’s best high school hockey prospects to attend ASU and play for Sun Devil Hockey. This commitment helps enhance and elevate Sun Devil Hockey, and Chuck has a goal of other Minnesotans joining him to support this endeavor.
This fund will assist the Sun Devil Hockey coaching staff in covering the following costs associated with recruiting student-athletes from Minnesota:

  • Travel Expenses
  • Recruiting Operations
Please join in supporting Sun Devil Hockey and the Minnesota community by donating to the Minnesota Hockey Recruiting Fund today!

They're now on separate teams, but the Truman brothers are starting up the exhibition season this weekend for their last year in the AJHL.
