Lowell Sun article:

UML loses Marin, but incoming freshman looks good

LOWELL — Speedy winger Nick Marin of the UMass Lowell hockey team will not return for his senior season.
The Shrewsbury native, an excellent student, is graduating in three years and plans to attend graduate school this fall at Georgetown University, head coach Norm Bazin said Friday.
“He’s a brilliant student,” Bazin said. “We’re going to miss him because he’s a good worker and I Iove him. But it’s a good opportunity for him.”
In 65 career games, Marin scored 15 points at UML. However, he was playing the best hockey of his collegiate career when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury during a game at Merrimack late in the season.
“We’ll miss his speed and tempo,” Bazin said.
With Marin’s decision, the River Hawks lose a forward, but they recently gained one for next season with the commitment of Zach Kaiser, a 6-foot, 170-pound skater from Orangeville, Ont.
Kaiser scored 126 points in 154 games over the past three seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
He scored 58 points in 60 games last season with Lloydminster. He was traded by Lloydminster to Sherwood Park on Jan. 10 and finished the season with 34 points in 35 games.
He showed toughness this season by battling through two major injuries, a broken jaw and broken wrist.
Playing with a face shield in the playoffs, Kaiser scored nine points in 10 games for Sherwood Park, tying him for third best on his team. One of his goals came shorthanded.

Going to miss Nick he was great on the PK and you always got a solid effort from him for the full 60

But yeah can't argue against his decision to go a school like Georgetown for Grad School. I love these high character kids we recruit who understand that the books are just as important as hockey

I know I "should" root for the sister tonight, but ... not happening.

I disagree with your stance on this. It's nice to win and fun when we do but at the end of the day, the priority should be education. These kids represent the school on the ice and in the classroom. If I want to watch and root for a bunch of short terms stars with no desire to excel in the classroom as well. I would root for BU.

Dude, you need to slow down and become more concise with your thoughts. I have no idea what you are trying to express. This reads like a transcript from a DJT 45 rally.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Sorry u can't figure it out maybe you must enjoy being a loser no hard feelings dude

LOL

Oh chiefs you really did eat paint chips as a kid.

I enjoy watching good hockey players grow as players and people. Especially since they represent the school I attended and graduated from. They are ambassadors for the brand of UML. If we win that is awesome, but it's a game and these are young men we are talking about not professionals. All I really ask for is a good effort for 60 mintues on game night.

Go Dogs!!! Beat the Dory!!

I am with Turk. I think it says a lot that we have kids able to graduate 'early' (most of them have taken a few courses before they got here). The % of guys that will go on to play in the NHL is low, even for the teams with a lot of studs. I would rather be assoc with a school that takes its responsibility to the athletes seriously than be assoc with a team that uses the kids but they end up without anything to help them once they are done.
