UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Apparently not today, RPI up 6-0 on SH after 2 periods. Who scheduled a 1:00 pm start?

Then again, SH was totally adrenaline jacked last night and played way above their usual while Lowell totally played down, actually way beneath, their opponent.

Is there a reset/redo button we can hit in lieu of our "easy" button? I'm convinced that game is going to haunt us come the end of the season.

Monty and I made the same analogy after the game while we were drowning our sorrows at Beer Works. Last night was Sacred Hearts Super Bowl. I can't believe their AD/Coach scheduled an afternoon game in Troy, NY after playing a night game in Lowell the previous night.

Yes, let's hope the universe rights itself tonight and the season will go on its happy way.

Losing to Sacred Heart sucked but losing to Amherst tonight would be a 100 times worse. How many penalties does Yevenko take tonight? I'll set the over/under at 3.

If you look at who their AD is, you wouldn't be surprised.

Tonight can't be any worse than last night right? I was at the Box Office earlier today to pick up an extra ticket and there were none left in my section (118). Had to take tix in section 117 to get 3 seats in a row. Hopefully that means there will be a decent crowd tonight.

Hope the team responds after that pathetic performance last night.
At least one seat in 119 was double sold last night

Last night was weird with the seating. I have seats 12 & 13 in my row and seats 14-19 were empty, as was seat 11. According to the woman I talked to at the Box Office today all of those seats are sold (season tix).

Hoping for a big, boisterous crowd tonight.

What's weird about that? They were probably thinking, 'why bother seeing a crappy Sacred Heart team'.
If they don't show tonight, they're probably thinking, 'why bother seeing a crappy Lowell team'. ;) :p

tonight's game was also on 288 but that wasn't WBIN on my lineup and the guide didn't say the game was on (for either channel)

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Well that was much better. A vast improvement over "The Game That Forever Will Go Unmentioned and Never Happened." In my view, it took until the middle of the second period but after that, things appeared to click a bit better. Still lots to work on but good progress tonight.

Carr was solid in net and I think he and Connor will split the Q series next weekend.

Gambardella continues to impress and it was nice to see Maniccia assist on McGrath's first goal of the season and then see McGrath return the favor, unselfishly passing to Maniccia for his first collegiate goal on the empty net.

Pendenza is the spark plug on offense the first two games while Wilson put it together a little more tonight with two assists after his horrible performance Friday night.

And the goal off of Mastalerz as he came out to play the puck, stumbled back after getting hit by the shot and having it end up in the next was absolutely hysterical, one of the funniest goals I've ever seen.

So now UML is 1-1 and hopefully falls no further than 8th in the national poll on Monday. But we're 1 win away from yet another Alumni Cup at least but wish this was 2 points in HE instead of a non-league game tonight.

Tonight's game was better but there is still a lot to work on. The 1st period was Lowell's worst period of the night even though they lead 1-0. Amherst controlled the play with a solid forecheck. Lowell has to expect every team they face to come at them strong with forechecking until they prove they can handle it. Things go better in the 2nd but Amherst helped out a lot with a bunch of penalties. Lowell still can not seem to score on a 5x3 advantage as they had 2 opportunities of at least 1:30. The penalty kill needs work too as they allowed 2 3rd period PP goals. It was nice to see them cash in on the chances they had in the 3rd. Overall, a good win so it is now on to Quinnipiac.

This made me laugh. He is not the brightest light bulb on the tree.

The aliens are back in town- they arrived in the middle of the second. Someone sprinkled pixie dust and all of the sudden the horrible bounces, the weird hops and the weirder propensity to try to skate through 3 guys while the wing is yelling for the puck/passing up the middle to the wrong guy seemed to disappear.

The special teams really need work. They also need to play smarter. They took some bad penalties in the 3rd period to let Amherst back into the game. That penalty Wilson took was terrible.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Someone needs to fix the UML recap on goriverhawks.com. Recap intro has us at 0-2-0 when we're obviously 1-1-0. Same recap was submitted to hockeyeastonline.com. Who is running the show at UML this year with no media guide out yet and no advance game notes up at all prior to the weekend's games? Looks like lots of new people hired and now things are falling through the cracks.

And while we're at it, the video board has looked off two nights in a row now, really grainy and not crisp and clear. Is it still under warranty?

We did better tonight but SHU played us much more solidly than ZooMass did.
