UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

This thread should get entertaining pretty quickly. Lowell deserves every negative thing said about them today. Sacred Heart did some decent things tonight and the 2nd goal was a really nice shot..... BUT LOWELL JUST LOST, AT HOME, TO THE WORST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. Only once last year did Sacred Heart give up fewer than 2 goals in a game. I guess it's a good thing Lowell likes to pick it up in the 2nd half of the season, but I do believe with the change in how they calculate PWR, Lowell may have already shot themselves in the foot 1 game in. Oh boy.

I will just sit and watch from the peanut gallery..should be fun.

Plain and simple, Lowell played as if they just put the team together. They could not complete more than a couple consecutive passes and just got plain outworked all night. They held onto the puck too long until a defender was right on top of them. They could not solve the big time trap at center ice.....overall just a terrible game for them.

Man, you win a few games the year before and everyone comes to visit your thread if you lose. We used to be lost in obscurity.

Might be the attitude of some of your fellow posters...right up there with BC;)

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

So I thoroughly vented at the end of the game and on way home in car and it was very therapeutic. But man, that was embarrassing tonight. And I could care less about an on-paper #1 ranking, what I care about is that losing to that team could dramatically affect NCAA selection down the road and it was only Game One. I'm very worried about that.

With that said though, every Riverhawk fan needs to now become a Sacred Heart fan for the entire season, rooting for them to win as many games as possible so it makes this loss less of an issue. They only won 2 games and tied 4 all last season so let's hope they're the UML of 3 years ago that rebounded from just a 5 win season.

In the meantime, let's hope this was that one bad game to get out of their system, regroup and take it to Amherst tomorrow night, take care of business one game at a time, and put this one in the rear view mirror. But what a lousy way to start the season.

Would also love to see the Ice is Life blog's take on all of this, if only they were still around. :(

How many pairwise points for that quality road win for SHU?

At least USCHO is helping you out. They put a pic of Minnesota playing Sacred Heart on the front page.

Tough loss. Put it behind you and take on Mass tomorrow.

It is only one game..Maybe Sacred Heart will be a middle of the road team in Atlantic Hockey and it won't hurt too much. Remember, Quinnipiac lost to AIC last year and they didn't hurt their season too much!

Congratulations to Sacred Heart on a nice win. They worked hard all night long.

For Lowell. That pretty much sums it up. You could see this coming before the game was half over. They had some chances but over all they didn't play well enough to win. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow night.

To add to my frustration I was unable to listen to the post game show on the ride home. Traveling east on Rt. 110 in Dracut I could not pick up any of the NH radio stations. WCAP (980 AM Lowell) was coming in fine but they cut the post game show off in favor of a High School Football show. Boy what a way to start the season.

Yeah, that seems to me what it looks like... Everything tonight was almost there... almost this, almost that, almost just about everything... Add up all that almost and you get suck. Not a great night for exhibiting the craft of the sport by us.

Congrats to Sacred Heart. They beat Lowell to every puck and their PK was outstanding.

With the exception of Hellebyuck that was an embarrassing performance from Lowell.

Oh, and I already hate the new radio set up. WCAP never returned to the broadcast after the interview with Bazin. Getting local football scores and some 10pm program that no one listens to were apparently much more important than the game recap. Put Bob back on 91.5 and cut this crap out.

This is good for the psyche, thanks
