UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

No, frustration is with the new radio network.

Don't know why they couldn't have just kept Bob on UMUL and connected with the other stations if they wanted to for better exposure and range (which isn't happening, it's worse). And many don't know this but WCAP often carried the WUML game feed the last few years with no problems. But it's all a mess now.

WUML is a non-profit station. Their FCC charter does not allow them to run commercials, only under-writing. Think PBS and NPR. I think the push to ESPN radio was to expand geographic broadcast coverage both north and south. At 1.4 KW, WUML will go up to north Nashua reliably and Manchester with dead spots but not much further. It dies near the 128 belt going south. East it goes reliably to Lawrence with some isolated pockets further on if you're up high. Not sure how far west it goes.

Some of the stations picked up are 5 KW, and AM can bounce further at night off the ionosphere.

So I can tune it but les can't... Sweet!

So they bounce another 50 feet down Central St. I live just over the river on the hill and I can't reliably get CAP
UML I can get pretty much everywhere I go

Yeah. How to shut me out. After 30 yrs of listening to Bob, the Voice, if I am not by my computer I can't listen and if I am by my computer only if the DSL is having a good day. Cannot begin to say how totally aggravating and alienating that is.

Did I ask this already? Smart phone?

This begins the first stretch of the "big test series." Looking forward to this game tonight. I don't necessarily think Lowell is talented enough to be one of those hot teams all year long, but they also can't afford to lose a weekend like this one starting tonight.

Yup, the next six games will be interesting and could really help with the PWR down the line. Hopefully the team shows continued improvement this weekend. Needless to say getting the special teams going would be nice. One game at a time. Hopefully the Tsongas is rocking tonight.

How was Panama Monty?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

That was ugly. The Q is good, but they aren't that good are they? Lowell was slow, sloppy and looked they didn't want to play tonight. They finally showed some spark in the 3rd but that didn't make up for the awful 40 minutes to start the game.

How many PP's did Lowell have tonight? 6 or 7? Hoping for a much better performance tomorrow night and I won't surprised if there are numerous penalty's as tonight was a chippy game.

Pretty ordinary crowd. My favourite beer stand didn't even exist tonight!

QU looked pretty good. They were quicker, faster and stronger on the puck tonight. Give the Bobcats credit they came to play and looked a lot sharper than Lowell did. They were aggressive and made it differcult for the Hawks to move the puck out of their own zone for much of the night. Lowell's inabilty to clear the puck and win battles along the boards resulted in a couple of goals.

So much for getting the PP going, 0-7 tonight and it was brutal to watch. QU gave them plenty of chances.

The Hawks are going need to step it up and play a solid 60 minutes if they hope to have a chance tomorrow night.

Game take away from les- I need a bucket of bleach for my brain. The Q had the bench up and banging the boards, fired up, the whole game. We looked like we thought the first 2 periods were supposed to be a warm up. Sloppy, lazy hockey that turned desperate way too late. They say there is no "I" in team but we seemed to have a few (and not all Freshmen) who seemed to find the m and e in team and forget the rest of the letters.

Maybe it's time to sit some player's and give a shot to some of the guys that have been watching. Hopefully this team realizes quickly what it's going to take to be sucessful.

Anyone heading to QU tonight?

I thought about making the trip up but decided it'd be too complicated.

I have no problem with sitting players to send a message.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

I hate to beat the radio topic to death but still very frustrating. I was able to get WCAP for the post game show for most of the way home. The reception faded close to the NH border on 93 last night. I couldn't tell if the NH stations were still broadcasting as there was no reception for them. Before turning off the radio in frustration I turned on WUML. They were playing music but the reception was loud and clear.

Speaking of WUML, they had a nice looking booth set up in the corner of the Tsongas for their broadcast. I haven't had a chance to listen in yet.

My nephew is also frustrated. He normally listens to Bob while at the games. Apparently the broadcast is now on a delay which makes it impossible to do now.

Oh well I guess there are more pressing issues, like the on ice performance. Trying to decide whether to make the trip to CT tonight.

yeah, the radio streaming delay is much more than the video delay... obviously that's not the same as radio delay, but its still odd.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

I have an app on my phone that lets me listen to the games on cap and uml. It comes in very clear and I live in North Hampton, NH. The app is called tune in radio. Hopes this helps.

As of yesterday there were only standing room available. We have a carload of six heading down now.
