WUML is a non-profit station. Their FCC charter does not allow them to run commercials, only under-writing. Think PBS and NPR. I think the push to ESPN radio was to expand geographic broadcast coverage both north and south. At 1.4 KW, WUML will go up to north Nashua reliably and Manchester with dead spots but not much further. It dies near the 128 belt going south. East it goes reliably to Lawrence with some isolated pockets further on if you're up high. Not sure how far west it goes.
Some of the stations picked up are 5 KW, and AM can bounce further at night off the ionosphere.

Don't know why they couldn't have just kept Bob on UMUL and connected with the other stations if they wanted to for better exposure and range (which isn't happening, it's worse). And many don't know this but WCAP often carried the WUML game feed the last few years with no problems. But it's all a mess now.
