UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

There is still a ton of hockey to be played, so obviously Bracketology is just for fun, but how about this draw? Even though they wouldn't be playing close to home, I like the match ups.

Midwest Regional (Cincinnati):
13 Cornell vs. 4 St. Cloud State
12 Michigan vs. 8 Massachusetts-Lowell

Anything other than worcester... I can't think of a less fun city... but at least i could go home if it were worcester... choices.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Bridgeport is fun?

yeah, they actually have a bar near the arena.. in fact, more than one... Worcester? Uhhh.

to the usual suspects. I'm in for the regionals and stuff and will be looking to coordinate if it comes to say either Cincy or Minneapolis.

edit: we have to win our series first of course... whole lotta things could happen.

I don't cornell has been playing some good hockey down the stretch and so has mich

I haven't watched Michigan play recently but they are 2-4-1 in their last 7 with 2 losses to Penn State. The 2 wins were recent, but they were also against PSU and OSU. I was looking at it from the perspective that we're the 8th seed right now and we didn't draw the #1 or even #2 in our bracket this week.

THis is the part of the season where I sit and watch all of you cogitate while I just look at the schedule that week to see whether Mr les is leaving earlier or later in the week :p

I'd have to think this wouldn't be great for attendance ... I'm sure Michigan would bring fans, not sure how well SCSU travels (outside the FF last year).

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

BTW, meant to say this earlier ... thank you Lowell hockey. I don't have to skip a playoff game this weekend, as I'm going down to Houston for the Revs opener. So yay!

The QF games are usually not well attended. One reason being the students are gone for spring break. If ND ends up being the opponent the crowd could be bigger than usual though.

Students can stay on campus till Sunday if they send an email to ResLife. that hasn't helped much in the past, but you gotta appreciate it

I think that if we face ND some more students will stay however the larger attendance will be thanks to the unusual amount of ND fans in the area.

Seriously, I swear I see as much ND gear as any other Hockey East team, except to maybe BC. Excluding on campus of course.

yeah, non-alumni alumni has always been strong in NE due to the irish component.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

From Jimmy Connelly's article:

As for the history of the single-elimination game in Hockey East, it hasn’t been overly kind to the home team. The higher seed and host is just 8-6 in single-elimination games played in the tournament’s opening round (play-in games, single-elimination quarterfinals).

Anyone picking some upsets this weekend?

When I did my picks to compare with someone else, I picked both Merrimack and UMass to pull upsets this weekend.

I don't really think this will happen but I just have this feeling about BU. The way they played against NU I just feel like they could be a surprise for some reason. No facts or any real reasons to say this other than I just feel it.
That of course probably means ND will kill them 5 - 1 or something like that.

After last weekend it's really hard to figure out what's going to happen with some of these games. It should be an interesting weekend.

NESN has the UMA @ UVM game tonight.
