UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

I think almost all of us expected a split, and that's what we got.

Had some great chances this weekend, but couldn't bury the puck. And on the other end, Hellebuyck gives up a huge fluke goal, and Lowell loses by one.

We've had a few too many times where we had good chances and can't finish them off all season. But I guess we just get to move on and relax for a week and then its time for PLAYOFFS

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Positives:
- Came back strong after their worst period in a long while
- PK was lights out
- PP came through with a big goal to change momentum in the second

Negatives:
- HAVE to stay out of the box. I know some Lowell and UVM fans mentioned the officiating was crap, but giving up 5 PPs is a recipe for disaster.
- I'm sure Hellebyuck would like to have that second goal back
- Lowell had plenty of chances - not just tonight, but all weekend. They need to finish their opportunities and not leave goals on the ice

Now to sit back and see how the one game playoffs play out. Lowell can theoretically play Amherst, BU, Notre Dame or Vermont.

Pretty even series. UVM could have been blown out last night and almost got a tie.. UML could have been down 3 tonight instead of 2 and that might have opened the flood gates...

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

So am I right in saying that Lowell can only be paired with UMass, UVM, BU, or ND for the QFs?

I think that's right. It's impossible for ME or MC to be the second lowest seed after the elimnation round. If I were a betting man I'd say we get VT.

Hearing some whispers that the Bruins may be interested in Hainsey.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Can we revive this thread? The UVM vs UML one is kind of tiring haha.
Who would y'all like to see in the first round?
I'm OK with us sitting the first round. :)

Whoever we play, two things Lowell has to improve on for them to get to the Garden. Have to finish the chances that we're getting. And stay out of the box.

There are a bunch of permutations, but in my mind the most likely opponent will either be VT or ND. In this case, I will take VT.

I just don't consider the play in round the first round for some reason.
Doesn't feel right calling it that. Anyway, if UVM or ND are the two most likely options, I'd take UVM I guess. We played ND well but that was obviously a different team than they are now.

I agree with you. ND is trending upwards while UVM is going in the opposite direction. I wasn't impressed with them at all last weekend..

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

I just received an email from the Box Office with my playoff tickets (Your UMass Lowell Print at Home tickets have arrived). According to the tickets the games will be Friday @ 7:15 pm, Saturday is TBA and Sunday (if necessary) @ 4:00 pm.

Bob Ellis mentioned at the end of Saturday's game that NESN may show Game 2 on Saturday, which would mean a 4pm start. If they opt to show a different game, it'll be a 7pm start.

UVM plays much better on the road...not just the record but how they play. They are God awful at home.

I think regardless I'd prefer to face UVM for two reasons. 1) ND is trending upwards very quickly and could be serious contenders for the title. 2.) Just to keep the UVM vs UML thread going.

Well, ND is going to have troubles in that they'll have to go through us... perspective here.
