Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Way to go Riverhawks. Nice win. All first year HE coaches won tonight.

The $64,000 question: when was the last time New Hampshire was blanked in consecutive games?:p

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Great win for Bazin in his first game as UML coach. Robbins gets the win in his first game in goal in college. He was probably just surprised not to face close to 50 shots a game (pretty much the average he faced last year amazingly enough).

Great job of stepping up by Wetmore, starting his year off well. Wallin picks up his first collegiate goal (as well as an assist), while Buco, Wilson and Robbins also got their first points.

So you're saying we should expect the Fire Umile thread pretty soon? ;)

Weird night all around HE ... BU loses to Providence, UNH loses to NH, BC loses to Denver at home, Maine loses at ND, Vermont loses to the US U-18 team.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Lots of shots (37), lots of saves (25 of 27), great on the PK, good play by upper- and underclassmen alike, four goals, and a win. A little more solid on the powerplay, but let's hope to see (or listen to) more of the same tomorrow.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Yahoo!!!! We are undefeated!!!! :p :p :p

Too tired to type, so will write some thoughts on the game tomorrow.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

It was good to see a victory on the road for a young team. The kill of the major hit from behind was huge as well. Another plus was all four of the goals were products of driving the net hard which is something Bazin talked about in the preseason interviews. The sustained offensive attack was a nice change of pace and they look much more composed than last years team. The freshman stepping up will be crucial, not just on the scoreboard/in net, but also on the blue line. There weren't too many glaring mistakes on the blueline so hopefully they can ride the momentum into a sweep for the weekend.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

There's a lot to build on after tonight, the team should be proud of themselves. Minn State isn't exactly a FF caliber team, and we should keep things in perspective being the first game of the season and all, but seeing as we weren't winning many games at all last year, let's enjoy this one.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Does anyone know how to buy a single game on b2????
I was only able to buy a single game AFTER I bought the season pass :( :( :( Their design of this website had my blood boiling last night. It's either by design, and slimy in the extreme or so incompetent to be also criminal.

Well, one thing will be consistency. I have to imagine Mankato will come out harder tonight and we have to go out there and put it together for another game. Additionally I don't know that so many goaltenders will allow the wraparounds this guy did last night.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

playing this out a little long term... I've been through some things recently and I'm not sure i can justify getting a car/hotel for the UConn tournament or attempting to drive having not done it for two years... does anybody have any plans to attend it and could conceivably swing by Fitchburg? UConn is 1:30 from Fitchburg... 2 from Lowell. I'd like to go... and I may take that entire week off regardless. We'll see.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

I think we should savor the moment that we have 2 games in hand on UNH :p
hahahahahaha! I love the way you think. I was thinking more on the lines of Patronick's thoughts but your way is much better :D

Paging Monty- Patman has my email. If you email me on gmail let me know cos I don't check that one.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

OK, apparently if you wait until 5 minutes before the game, the single event option appears....they could have just said that!

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Can't agree more. Great weekend. Nice to see Pendenza get one and Arnold have a great game. Ferreira and Wetmore had great overall weekends. Carr sounded sharp. Understand it's not BC but it's a promising start....there's hope sneaking around again.....

Looking forward to Tuesday's game.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

There is a lot to like about Lowell (remember that marketing campaign?).

Really liked the way Lowell was always on the attack this weekend. Thank goodness dump and chase is in the past.

What a refreshing change. Let's hope we keep to that and improve upon it. Lots of work to do but a **** good start.
