Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Zero age issues but also zero chance any of those players will have any chance of getting thru clearinghouse, zero
You may very well be right, I'm just speculating based on the rumor about a Russian player joining the team.

So is there a Russian defenseman currently playing in Juniors (USHL, BCHL) that could be coming in?

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

I'll answer for him since I was curious myself once you brought it up ... Sikatchev played for St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Not quite... according to hockeydb it was still the Russian Elite League... and in the end it all comes down to the rules that the leagues themselves play by in terms of amateur status etc.

I like the USHL/Can Jr. idea... we've also seen some players come from Sweden (that is, swedish league systems and not swedes playing Can Jr.) and whatnot, yes? Rare, but I believe it happens... could it be something like that?

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Curious, if they do bring in a player for the second semester, does he have to wait for the semester to start to be able to play?

I would suspect not and I would use college soccer as my justification... often games start before classes do... you could also use college football. My straight answer though is "I don't know".

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Congratulations to David Vallorani, who has a goal and an assist so far tonight in Lowell's 5-1 lead (after 2), as he becomes the 40th UML player to reach the 100 point mark, and the first since Korey Falite.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

7-2 win tonight puts Lowell at 11-5 on the season. Joe Pendenza scores the first and last goal of the game, and five others added goals in between. Doug Carr finishes with 23 saves on 25 shots (unofficial stats).

Lowell will play the UConn/Army winner tomorrow.

Excellent showing tonight. Hope UConn wins tonight so that we can avenge that loss in Nashua.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Listened to the game this afternoon and it sounds like the River Hawks were simply toying with RPI. A much-needed win and effort considering that Lowell was a big favorite and came off a really tough loss three weeks ago. Good to see that they sent the message about moving on from the loss early. As mentioned in the radio pre-game show, the Christmas/early January stretch hasn't been kind to Lowell over the past few years.

If UConn is the opponent, that's a bonus. The key is they have to come back to town with this championship no matter whom they will play tomorrow evening.

I hope I'm not inadvertently insulting any UConnians by asking this, but does anyone know if the Freitas Ice Forum has concessions? Going to the game tomorrow straight from work and I need to know if I need to stop for a bite

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

you know what i like... they keep coming... and they keep coming... and they keep coming. you don't have to worry about whether or not this team will go for the kill or for the next goal... and I'm enjoying it oh so very much

Heh... if it were me I'd stop at Wings Over... leave it all in my car, and then eat it cold when I got home afterwards.

As Gary said, don't expect real food at the arena.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Furlong apparently has a mild concussion, and likely won't play tomorrow. He took an interference penalty midway through the 2nd, went to the bench when it expired, and sat there the rest of the period. He didn't even come out in the 3rd. Shayne Thompson took his place on D for most of the remainder of the game.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

hoky,
Do you remember what league Sikatchev from MC played in before coming to North America?

Sorry Irish, I was away at UML game, wow does RPI suck.....One of the worst tems in the country.

I think he answered your question, intersting place to play.

Lowell is a different team this time, will win by 3+/-.

U Conn, they are what they are.
