Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

NESN and Hockey East announce the 2012 broadcast schedule and multi year deal.
http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/pres1112/201111/nov9nesn.php

The game with Vermont (2/4/12) from the Tsongas will be on NESN.

Did a 4th grader write that press release http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/pres1112/201111/nov9tv.php?

The league will also receive valuable regional and local exposure in New England on Cox Sports in Providence, WABI-TV in Bangor, Maine, the CW in Portland, Maine, WBIN-TV in Derry, N.H., which reaches in Boston, WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vt and CBS Now in the Western Massachusetts.

Get your act together Hockey East!

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

To actual hockey ... again, I'm assuming Carr gets at least one start. Let's see if we can end the house of horrors thing and at least win a game. Please!

I really don't want to post on the Maine/UML thread because the Maine fans are too busy feeling sorry for themselves (as has been the norm in that type of thread for a couple of years now). UML killer Brian Flynn and of course (IMHO) one of the dirtiest players in the league Joey Diamond are right at the of the stats list for Maine.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

At this point, Carr needs to get both starts. However, while early, not having a servicible #2 goalie could be a big issue this year, especialy in the second half with 16 league game without a day of rest.

I could care less about the woe is me Maine fans. Do that talking on the ice.

Speaking of that rat ba$tard Diamond, he has been pretty succesful aganist the River Hawks. Certainly not the killer that Flynn has been, but his tactics have worked.

I would be shocked if Carr didn't get the start tomorrow night. He made a couple of excellent saves last weekend even though he spent most of the game watching his teammates play offense.

If Bazin sits Carr on Saturday I would go with Robbins to start. He got torched at BC but not all those goals were his fault.

Going to slowly make my way up to the land of pine trees, potatoes, and blueberries. See some of you in ME.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Don't forget the LOBSTERS! Buy a lobster, a bag of potatoes, and a blueberry pie and get whitehead for free!

It would be more appropriate and considerate of you to confine your negative opinions of coach Whitehead to the Maine thread and not another teams.

Runsub5- all in good fun. What team hasn't said they want to trade their coach, moaned about them at some point. I think it is required part of hockey. Plus we had Coach Whitehead here first.

I always heard the chant Maine. Pine trees. Potato fields. Loose (which I heard as Moose) Women. You s.... Of course that was 30 yrs ago :D.

Good deal. I don't know if the Blue Fan Shirt is free or is a modest, but once you have it, I believe you can then get any ticket at no charge. It's a great deal, regardless; hope she goes to many games in all sports. :)

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

We do too!!!!!

Another great game to listen to last night. A good amount of sloppy play by both teams especially in the 2nd but an ugly W is a W nonetheless. What I really liked when watching the recap on the Hockey East website was how the forwards constantly pressure and drive towards the net. UML's first goal by Holmstrom serves as a great example. There was a great move that had been stopped by Ouellette and three River Hawks contributed to stuffing the rebound in. Of course, pretty goals work too (Wilson's move was awesome).

Great to win game one of a series because now all the pressure is on Maine to salvage a split. A little bit better passing will help but continuing to drive the net and play disciplined and hopefully we'll see (or listen to) another good game.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

UMass Lowell Field Hockey is in their fifth straight NCAA DII Title game tomorrow afternoon at 1pm, playing against West Chester University. The two teams opened the season against each other with West Chester winning in OT 4-3. Go Lowell, bring home another Championship!

That was the sum total of the game. Lowell's forwards caused the Maine defense to make critical mistakes and converted while at the other end Maine's forwards did generate some chances but were snuffed out by Lowell. Lowell's defense and especially Carr (in the third period) came up huge and for back-to-back games, held a second intermission lead. I'd have to look to see when that last time that happened.

I'll give that rat ba$tard Diamond two goals if it leads to a UML win. ;)
