Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

They are over 5000. It will depend on how many students show up. They are running another "Beat the record" promo for the students.

Sounds like it'll be a good crowd. I'll have to get to the Beer Works early to grab a seat for dinner.

Let's hope the extra time to prepare this team had is put to good use and an actual home ice crowd puts a jump in their step. Hopefully the students show up in force.

Let the goaltending controversy resume! My money is on Robbins starting Friday, Carr on Saturday.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Just because the hockey schedule shows an open weekend doesn't necessarily mean that either venue was available for hockey.

Fact#2: The UConn women's team had a game on Friday night so travel to UConn was not an option. The Tsongas Center was preparing for an event on Saturday.

The issue with this is the building can be turned over in less than 24 hours, probably more like 12 if they really need to so a Saturday event shouldn't be a big deal, if it is play the game at 4 or something. I think the issue with not playing at the Tsongas was the higher ups flat out saying no we don't want the home opener against UConn. They would rather put butts in seats for the BC game which I can't really blame them for. It always seems like there is some oddity in the schedule (last years 5 ranked teams in 9 nights) but for once we can blame the school rather than HE

Toto we are not in Kansas anymore..... thank God! This is the best game watched in yrs and it is only the second period. :D

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Exciting hockey, even if the Beagles weren't probably playing as well as they are capable of. No more dump and chase, real crash the zone stuff. Not sure how technically good they are but not the boring dump and chase, lose the puck, rinse lather repeat. :D After dreading going to hockey for the last few yrs I am excited for the next game. What a great change.

Oh, and I want some sort of electric collar like they have for barking dogs to zap Val every time he decides not to pass the puck and go thru 3 opposing players. That is all.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

A sigh of relief.

No, the River Hawks aren't in the elite class of college hockey teams and sure there is a lot of work to do, but they gave all BC could handle and then some. BC thought they could cakewalk through the second period and cash in a game. Give credit to the River Hawks whom on an offensive level are outmatched against BC on so many levels yet came back to tie the contest at two.

Sure, Lowell probably won't win HE this year or gain home ice. If they play like they did tonight at home aganist the rest of the league and improve their efforts tonight, they will have more than five overall wins and a lot more happy exits by the River Hawks faithful.

Seems like the early returns at least in Lowell and Providence are positive with their new coaches.

Bummer I couldn't make it out there tonight.

If you all make the trip to Conte tomorrow be sure to be safe please. Waiting to see what they say here on the 11 pm news for the weather.

Radio feed is dead :( anyone out there know what is going on??

seriously... can we improve the radio situation already? The arena equipment, the station itself, whatever causes these dropsies.

4-1... ick

You have a feed? I am wondering about power. I have friends in Westford who are out already. Snow is pretty bad.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

This game is going about as bad as I thought it might. 4-1, 16:57. Robbins has been pulled, Boulanger in.

Edit to add: First period now over. Thankfully.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

5-1 BC, Corcoran took a penalty 1 second into the second and Kreider just scored a power play goal at 1:33.

This is going to be ugly.
