Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

You scared me for a second when you asked that question. I don't want to drink crappy beer either! :p

Ooh, and they even have light beer, i.e. Merrimack Golden & Shawsheen Light for when Merrimack College folks come to town this year. ;) :D :p

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

Any thoughts on who's in net tonight for Lowell? Does Blaise stay with Carter Hutton or does Nevin get a start? Any word if Mike Sheu will be in the line up?

The Hawks need to come out strong and take care of business this weekend.

Can't find that online anywhere and I don't get the Sun when I'm here at school. What'd his rankings look like/what'd he have to say about Lowell?

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

I think you might be overreacting a little bit. The way you make it sound, you'd think he put Lowell 6th. Sure, he makes some mistakes (forgetting about Strait), but I don't think his rankings are too out of whack. And I don't think anyone can seriously expect BU to continue to struggle like they have in their first two games. On the other hand, I guess I'm one of "the smart ones" since I did have Lowell first in my preseason power rankings.

to address your sentences in order:

no; he may as well have; he has amherst fifth!; no but at the same time they can't pull out of two performances like that any time soon; smart move by you.

e: also i don't think you understand what we do at that blog.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

Since its a quiet Friday afternoon I went over my schedule for the Lowell home games before the New Year.

I won't be able to make the 11/18 game against UNH or the 11/27 game against Maine.

If anyone wants my tix (2 seats in Section A, Row 17) just let me know.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

The students were excellent tonight. Biggest student turnout I have ever seen.

No offense to Colgate but they aren't a good team. Lowell played like crap in the 2nd period and pretty deserved to be down 3-2.

I told my friend before the 3rd period started that Lowell would score 3 goals and win. Not a bad prediction :D

Lowell has to play much better tomorrow to beat Northeastern. I hope Carter is in net as Nevin had a few shaky moments trying to F around with the puck.

The official attendance was 5,619.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

One of the most interesting games I've ever seen in the Tsongas Arena; it had a lot of everything.

I loved what I saw for the first 15 minutes and the last 12 minutes of that game. It was complete dominance of an opponent and Colgate had no answers, especially after the "replay" goal was awarded. I have to give Colgate a lot of credit, during the other half of the game, they played pretty well and capitalized on three Lowell mistakes. Lowell was very fortunate Colgate only scored three goals.

Really impressive with the lines tonight, seems to work very well. Freshmen have a bit of learning to do but they seem to be OK for now and can play at this level. It happens, but Nevin did not have a good game, constantly fighting the puck and leaving a lot of "tasty treats" hanging in front of the net, although if not pretty didn't allow a Colgate goal in the third.

The student section showed up tonight en masse and was effective from start to finish. They definitely brought their A-game to the opener and hope for a repeat performance. Just under 5690 for an opening non-league game...has to be a record for NC home opener, save the Tsongas Arena opening event against Dartmouth. Don't know what the 5:00 PM start will do to attendance tomorrow but we will see. It was nice to start the home crowd actually feed the come from behind win. Hasn't happened much but if this is the sign of things to come, I like it.

Watching UNH/NU game and NU goalie. Shoot (on net) first, ask questions later. ;)

Hockey is back...I'm happy :D

Great summary. I can't say enough about the student section tonight as they were great from start to finish. I hope they are there tomorrow.
