UML '09/'10 Season Thread

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

I'm going to be fair in saying this... the parts I heard on the radio sounded like a much better effort than given in the previous weekend. 2-2 tie is disappointing but that's life (and I know bob was upset with the major call so I'll take it by proxy that it was suspect)... now, put that effort in every night... no excuses and no "we'll be better in the future".

Whether it was a major or minor didn't matter...UNH scored in the 1st two minutes of the power play.

The team came out hard right from the start and played a solid game. I felt they out played UNH for much of the game. My only complaint was they missed the net several times early in the game when they had some very good looks.

The major was a tough call. According to the Score Update thread, the UNH radio guys also felt it should have been a 2 minute boarding penalty. Regardless, the Hawks had to play over 7 minutes shorthanded in the 3rd period, not good. By the end of the game, with Blaise shortening the bench the team looked tired. Hopefully they have something left for tonight.

If you didn't catch tonight's Lowell game on NESN, or wound up getting annoyed with the technical difficulties, the game will be shown again tomorrow at 2:30pm.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

UML recruit Derek Arnold has a goal and 3 assists for 4 points after 2 periods in the USHL tonight

Maines loss, Lowells gain

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

I didn't drink enough for this game

I thought Bob was going to need CPR. I know Sheu said they weren't tired but they looked it in the first kill of teh 3rd. At one point they were literally standing with their feet not moving. Great to see them dig deep and pour it on in OT. I was pretty worried.

At least the les household will be happy for the rest of the weekend.

This belong in the recruit thread, but thanks for the info. Actually just looked at the USHL scoreboard and as of now, they've taken away the goal ... he's got 4 assists.

Sixteen years of watching Lowell hockey and I've never been this speechless.

All I will say about tonight game is that the first two periods of tonight's game was some of the best hockey I've seen them play and that third period was the most embarassing display of Lowell hockey I've ever seen live or on TV. :o

So for the weekend:

1. Tie @ UNH, split season series
2 . Win @ NU, win season series
----------------------------------- -------------------------
3 pt. weekend, and two series that do not count against them

Let's get the hell out of there and on to the Zoo next week.

Twenty-five years for me and I'm in complete agreement with you. It's a good thing I eat right because if I didn't, that game might have given me a heart-attack. I'm just not even sure what to say.....

By the way, I wonder if anyone else that was at the game could comment on the string of penalties in the 5x3 stretch. Were they legit, etc? I was sitting low in the Lowell offensive zone (1st and 3rd) and couldn't see everything going on at the other end.

All I can say, is that for the first period of the game I was like "fix these technical difficulties...DON'T THINK ABOUT IT, DO IT!"

You think that is bad. KHL game had a game with more than 600 penalty minutes in it.A series of fights between Vityaz Chekhov and Avangard Omsk resulted in 691 penalty minutes against more than 30 players. Now that sucks.

According to Bob we were hunted by the Refs. Chaz, not so much. On TV there I thought Goers tripping looked questionable at best. the guy looked like he caught an edge, was falling and as he fell his hip came in contact with Goer's stick. Couldn't figure out Maury's at all but the angle for the replay was from far out and I wasn't listening to the Nesn guys. The rest were legit but it seemed like they also missed a few the other way.

All this stuff in the 3rd makes me wonder about conditioning. They looked tired and a beat behind from what I watched. I know they played 2 and NU didn't but still!

The call on Capraro that led to the tying goal was absolute horse****. His stick never made contact with the NU player, the guy simply lost an edge.

Also the painfully blatant goaltender interference that wasn't called right after they tied it up pretty much sums up how even that game was called.

Moe got called for swiping the stick on the ice away from the NU player. That's going to get called every time.

The penalty on Cappy was even more ridiculous when you watch the replay and the ref who called it was looking right at him at an angle where he would have seen the stick never came close to the NU player.

You're going to look tired when you're spending half a period on the PK. I thought they looked fine in the first and second, and then they looked tired in the third with that one way street to the box.
