UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

If worse comes to worse, stay at the Hampton Inn in Waterville. Its only an hour drive south of Bangor, has some decent restaurants and bars and I usually pay under a hundred bucks when I have to work out of our home office. Has a very nice continental breakfast too. Whatever you do, dont stay in Newport. :D

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Thanks to the Maine fans for their help. I might look at Waterville after all.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Four of us are staying in 2 rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Bangor. Yay Friends and Family Rate! :)

If I had, hypothetically, decided to come up I wonder what I could have gotten for government rate. :p God dammit, I live to far away :p

I have access to those rates but don't have the qualifications. The Fed rate is around $90-95

from time to time I'll hear stories about great hotels for cheap but then again usually the government picks up the tab for conferences and those situations... major city rates are still very high.

Carter Hutton was named Hockey East Pure Hockey Defensive player of the week.

From the Commissioners Corner:
•#4 Maine has won all 12 tournament games it has ever played against #5 UMass Lowell.

Its kind of sad that most of the "all-decade" squad is from this years team and you still can't get home-ice or and probably won't make the NCAA's ?? My condolences. I am being serious here, I am sorry for you guys. With the passion most UML fans possess you deserve better.

I was partying in the Old Port after a wedding one fall. Someone that had planned on going home (he lived in or near Portland) decided he wanted to stay and hang out with the rest of us. He went to the hotel front desk, said he worked for the government but was missing his ID. He talked them into giving him the government rate for a room. He was in law school at the time, so maybe he has a promising career as a sleezeball lawyer ahead!

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

There's a nice Holiday Inn in Ellsworth. Indoor pool etc. Not that far from Orono. Also there is the Lucerne Inn just outside of Brewer. Probably in the $150 a night range tho. But is very beautiful with a nice restaurant on site

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Because I'm bored, I just did a search ... I can do a trip for two to Cancun, stay in an all-inclusive four-star resort, leaving Friday and come back Sunday ... for around $600 (total). Or I could choose to pay $150/night in Bangor. Ouch. And no, that's not a shot at Maine before everyone gets all defensive. Just surprised at the hotel prices, that's all.

Lucerne Inn has a ridiculous view. I almost drive off the road every time I'm up there looking down into the lake.
