UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Lowell was a team that was #3 in the nation at one point this season and in firm control in HE. The team we saw destroy UNH in the third period on ESPNU in November was the team everyone in this town wanted and expected to see. Since then, for a variety of known and unknown reasons, they haven't been back to that form. Every four years, Lowell gets a senior-laden team and the expectations go through the roof that we are going make some noise. The lack of Lowell responses since the loss last night is a prime indication of how far the disappointment has reached.

Lowell looked really good in that UNH game but they also looked incredibly lackluster against UAH... yes, I know goon looks at that game and sees how we shut them down defensively.... on the other side of the ice we didn't look anything like that team that made its way to the Garden. That team last year had this firm confidence of where to move the puck and when to do it... for the life me I don't know how you lose that but we did. I just can't understand how we lost that crispness of understanding because those plays seem to be more mental than physical/talent. The team last year knew what to do at the end of the season... yes, even when playing all those teams even... the fundamental was their play and the scores were just a result of that... sure we could have lost that Vermont series but we were playing the way you would ever want a team. They played with control, with awareness, and with confidence. Somewhere they lost that poise with the puck.

I don't know if I have the UNH game in my DVR drive anymore but the team that played UAH didn't look all that intimidating despite limiting UAH.

I have no other things to point to since I haven't watched a game since then. I just don't understand how you lose some of the more mental aspects of the game.

edit: i have the UNH game queued up... 2nd period... Melrose (not word for word) "Lowell's having a really hard time getting it going early in the period... they had the same problems last period"... geez... seems like a year long problem for us.

Apparently you don't understand the meaning of the phrase, but I don't think anyone here would accuse you of being smart.

Monty, you're the only one taking his bait. He's only here in the bad times and never in the good... that speaks to his worth.

I am going to work on the "If you have nothing nice to say" theory...

I'm with you on that.

In other news my girlfriend and I had a very unpleasant experience on Friday night. There were a couple of guys sitting behind us that were scouts for some NHL team.

They were giving my girlfriend all kinds of abuse and one of them asked me to "step outside" when I asked him to stop talking.

I talked to the usher and he said scouts could sit anywhere. Is that true? I'm really ticked about what happened.

"if it were me"... I know whomever would get this e-mail would laugh their *** off but if i could figure out their team I'd send an e-mail their president and their director of scouting then cc Blaise, Dana, and Marty.

People don't deserve that ever though I can understand that the team will give deference. That usher should have had some testicles though. You don't treat people like ****.

I'm still ticked off about what went down with those clowns on Friday. I'm going to email Eric Allen and Scott Donnelly tomorrow morning.

Not to be an arse or anything but I pay for my seats and I don't need some ahole sitting in his free seats giving me and my girlfriend abuse.

Next time get a cop; it's called assault. Making threats of bodily harm against a person or putting a person in fear of imminent bodily harm is a crime in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. (M.G.L. chapter 265, section 13A)

That really stinks!

This is what I was going to suggest. I could understand being able to sit where ever but I have never seen a scout interact with the people around more than the simplist pleasantry. They are usually very quiet. (They sit over by us all the time.) Being infantile I think I would have whipped out my phone and taken some pictures of the guys so that I could 'identify them' when I 'filed my report'.

Okay, so I open my mail today, and there is a letter from Scott...with an order form "in case" we get home ice!!!! Must have been mailed friday...could have saved the postage.

I got mine Saturday when I got home from the Hack. Even more ironic.

You act like this team won't go 8-0-0 to finish off the regular season... fair weather fans :p

Lowell, not even a TUC. This season rules. Love expectations.

If you are watching the Beanpot like I am, we are so screwed this weekend.

On a related note, this is the exact reason why I did not post how Lowell would do this season. I've seen it before.

Agree, it could get real ugly against BC this weekend. Two teams going in opposite directions. At this point nothing seems to be going right for the Hawks.
It will be interesting to see how the team responds and if Blaise can come up with something to get the team back on track.

Eric Allen got back to me yesterday afternoon and was on top of things. He laid out the University policy on scouts:

1). They must sign in.
2). They do not get in for free.
3). They can't sit wherever they want.

He said he would speak with the ushers to clarify the University's policy and also gave me his cell# if I happen to see the guy again.

I can't say enough about Eric and his response. Kudos to him and the UML Athletic Department.

In other news, this weekend doesn't look good. BC has really picked it up and Lowell is in a tailspin (understatement of the year?). Would it hurt to shoot the puck once in a while
