MSU 0 - UMD 0 after one. SOG MSU 5- UMD 13.

After watching both UM vs OSU games this one is a real yawner so far...extremely slow, draggy affair. Even Hanson sounds like he's ready for a nap...he's just on auto pilot.

This is the first Anniversary of the Ambush at the Amsoil!

Were those two MSU campus cops that I noticed standing on either side of Means and a goodly amount of duct tape covering his kisser?

Probably just my imagination.

MSU 2 - UMD 1 Final. SOG MSU 25 - UMD 40.

Lacquette hit the post twice. Kirchiver in net for MSU for apparently her first start...good for her.

Hickel and Kenyon were missing. This was an extremely lackluster performance by the 'Dogs for the first two periods...very, very hard to watch...(and by MSU until after they scored their first goal). Both teams looked like they would rather be in bed sleeping. After their efforts in both games last weekend against UM this is almost indescribable.

Seems as though MSU's second goal near the end of the second period started to wake UMD up. At least they started yawning and stretching a bit. Couldn't help thinking during the first two periods that if either team is able to fully wake up, and quickly, that they will just automatically steamroll over the other by default. It was anybody's game to win just by willing it to be so. One of the most horrible games I've ever watched...(bring on the Beanpot Finals...please).

McParland's beautiful goal with seven minutes remaining in the game finally woke me up. Gorgeous effort to focus on the puck after being upended and getting the shot off while in mid air. But even she seemed extremely slow for most of the game...like the rest of the team.

UMD has injuries again but maybe...has everybody got the flu? Both teams?

Hopefully tomorrow's game is better. It pert' near couldn't be worse.

The high point of the broadcast was a ten or twelve year old kid, according to Hanson, catching a souvenir and immediately turning to an eight year old and giving it to him. Hanson was moved to continually comment on that act. Couldn't agree more.

Was hard to watch. UMD dominates stats and loses. Several times saw UMD knock their own player off puck. Also saw one skate into a pile of players and fall down. Not sure what some of them are thinking/doing. Hopefully come out with more focus and energy tomorrow.

Need help from folks that know more/follow more closely - With the current injuries, any thoughts on moving 71 back to forward? She got off to a good start there at start of season. I like her hands and speed on D but she might help the O right now.

No video for the first period.

Not quite the snooze fest pile that yesterday's game was but it's in the same corral.

Several players on both teams are just not skating...to say that they look like they are struggling would be a compliment.

They look as though they are wading through cold tar.

Miller had better put a rush order on a carload of smelling salts right after the game if they expect to finish the rest of their season on a positive note...(effort wise)...especially with UW coming up next weekend.

At least she agrees with our assessment of yesterday's game. Mentions injuries but not illness.

MSU 2 - UMD 4 Final. SOG MSU 24 - UMD 27.

Finally got Hanson with the play by play in the third...got the audio for some movie during the second.

Gillanders with 2 goals. However, after her second goal to put the 'Dogs up 4-1, MSU walked the puck in off the ensuing faceoff virtually unmolested to score 9 seconds later! The synapses are just too wide this weekend.

Hopefully, there's overnight delivery on that shipment of smelling salts.

The audio-only link had Hanson the entire time, so if it happens in the future, you may want to get your audio from a separate window. However, there are days when the audio from some random movie may be more applicable to what is occurring on the ice than the commentary Hanson is providing.

Agreed. Even though most of it was in slow motion it was an "improvement" over yesterday. Then again, and this is not meant to be too cynical just objective, it would be almost impossible not to improve over yesterday's "performance".

I shut the whole program off and started it again but nothing changed then later he magically appeared at the begining of the third.

I know what you mean but regardless of which Hanson was going to show up today, if he was going to at all, based on what I was seeing on the ice I was starting to think that the audio to the movie wasn't such a bad a thing. When it was over there was an endless "Sensa" weight loss infomercial. I just turned the volume off and reasoned, based on what I was still seeing on the ice, that being without audio I wasn't missing anything.

UW 1 - UMD 0 after one.

This has the real early makings of Holmes vs Cobb. Extremely intense atmosphere...very physical game...10 penalties in the first period...UW 4 - UMD 6.

UMD with a beautiful 5 on 3 kill that prevented UW from even getting a shot on goal.

But, UW's very aggressive forecheck has UMD making mistake after mistake...taking too long to execute...UW beating UMD to the puck 80% of the time...several fanned passes by UMD as well as many horrible passes.

UMD couldn't get out of their end for what seemed like an eternity.

Happy to see one 'Dog actually lift the puck up high to clear it...finally, someone is thinking.

But they have to play smart and minimize the penalties...UW goal on the power play.

Game has calmed down...only 3 penalties in the second period...total UW 6 - UMD 7.

UMD's PP is anemic as is the majority of their offence so far but it's improving. Still deplorable passing.

Lacquette with 3 penalties and the last one was very stupid and unnecessary and it resulted in UW's second goal. Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot.

The play started evening out a bit as the period continued. But UW still with the greater speed and desire so far it seems to me.

Special teams not so special. Bad passing and puck handling - same problem as all year. Even announcers making comments on it. At least avoided the shutout. After seeing replay of Black tripping Packer I think Packer should try bfor Badger dive team.

UW 3 - UMD 1 Final.

What a collossally brain dead move by Black! Your team is down 3 -0 late in the game and she figures she'll help her team by tripping Packer behind the play as she glides by with McParland making a rush up ice with the puck. Deserves to be benched for a couple of games so she can actually think about it.

Completely brain dead!

Virtually nothing went right for UMD...passing was horrible, couldn't keep the puck on their sticks for the first half of the game, puck handling looked like the Keystone Cops...gave the puck to UW many times...offence was non existent to weak...I only saw two passing plays in close on Rigsby, most of the shots were single efforts from distance, often couldn't clear the puck out of their end...took a couple of stupid penalties...2 weak penalty calls in the third to give UW another 5 on 3...and on and on and on...just looked disjuncted as a team even though there was some serious effort by several individuals. The effort was there to play as a team but the Hockey Gods said "Nothin' doin'!" Frustrating to watch and I'm sure to play. I empathize since there was a lot effort expended unlike last weekend.

UW just set the pace from the opening faceoff and it seemed that UMD was not prepared to be that aggressive and started out on their back foot mentally and, as a consequence for the first part of the game, play wise as well.

Hard to play catch up when everything is going wrong.

Kudos to UW for an aggressive game both mentally and play wise. That's how you win hockey games.

I have to disagree with you in that even though it could be argued that Packer might have gone down somewhat easily, maybe, I think that there was certainly enough of a conscious effort on Black's part to do the dirty deed that she deserves all the blame and should have it heaped upon her. Her "protest" at the call looked extremely sheepish as though she knew **** well that she got caught doing what she had attempted to make look innocent but had fully intended.

That's how I saw it.

I find it interesting that this occurred only two weeks after the "crosscheck Hannah Brandt but leave Meghan Lorence wide open for the goal" incident in Minnesota.

Don't recall this. If I was aware of it at the time, it looks as though I have successfully suppressed it.

What a difference a day makes! Very even play so far. The curse of yesterday's play seems to have been lifted from UMD. The majority of the passes are crisp and connecting with some beautiful stickhandling by Hickel on a couple of occasions...once to get around and through 3 or 4 Badgers to get a shot on goal.

'Dogs with a disallowed goal.

McParland too casual in getting to the puck in her own end...more intensity would afford more opportunities.

Forgot to mention...penalty free first period! And audio but no play by play today.

Jasper's being lazy along the boards allowed Packer to pass to Decker in the slot for the first goal.

'Dogs having some difficulty mounting a consistent offence although the game is pretty much end to end and there is good flow.

Nice slapshot by Wilson in fairly close but it went high...but one by McParland in the slot for the equalizer.

Dumb penalty by Kenyon...totally unnecessary...in the UW crease for the only penalty of the game so far. Luckily it didn't cost the 'Dogs.

Sense the 'Dogs are coming on offensively...time to ratchet up the intensity in the offensive zone as well as the numer of shots on goal.

UMD 2 - UW 2 after regulation...going to OT. SOG UMD 24 - UW 42

UW scored in the last few minutes on a bit of a weird one.
