UMD1 OSU 2 after 1

Lazy less then inspired effort by UMD. OSU winning most of races to puck -UMD coasting to the pucks and OSU skating. 3 dumb penalties by UMD leading to 2 PP goals for OSU.

UMD 2 OSU 3 after 2

Special teams failing. OSU has 3 PP goals and one UMD PP effort was bad. 7 and 80 started period by turning puck over 3 straight times in front of own goal. Goalie saved them. UMD doesn't seem in game - play good in spurts but not consistent

D struggling for sure- got to keep it simple- I guess to be safe throw laquette out! Kid is hot!! Where in the world is Mcparland? Big players have to show for these type of games! My advice- stay out of box!!

3 examples of UMD being lazy/not thinking in 3rd. At midway point someone make cross ice pass to 51. Like most UMD passes its little off target. Instead of taking a half stride and catching puck with her stick she sticks out her leg and tries to use skate. She kicks it right to OSU for odd man rush into UMD zone. Couple minutes later someone passes back to 80 at Red line. Instead of skating to puck she waits for it. OSU skates for puck and get to 80 same time as puck. 80 makes very weak pass and turns it over for another odd man OSU rush. Then after UMD pulls goalie 88 makes weak pass back to 49 (who is covered). OSU gets puck, skates in and scores.

Hopefully UMD wants to play tomorrow.

Well- I think it started a lot earlier with D zone probs- sure 88 made a bad pass but if wasnt for her, I don't think umd is in the gm. Generated scoring chances. She's been on all dogs offense in the last couple of wknds. Wong needs to be stronger on that play, with that said, once the rest of the cavalry shows, we're gonna be fine! Ie: Mcp, hickel, Winberg, Kenyon and since I'm at it, Irwin where are you?!?!

I agree with you. 7 and 80 teamed up for 3 straight turnovers in their own zone to start the 2nd. 88 has been the only real consistent O last few games but the pass at end of game is example of players not being aware of whats going on on the ice. Sorry I messed up the quote

Definitely not the right play- Not sure if that's what Miller wrote up as a set play. Tomorrow is a new day and if Black can go, should be interesting

That would explain the 4th line out late in the game. Not the right time to send a message in my view... If they get the message, than its an awesome move! Game 2 tomorrow... If you go down, go down with your top gals out there!!

UMD 0 OSU 2 End of 1st

Game started good. UMD had good pressure just didn't score. 79 and 21 both went to net. 21 knocked down and still fighting to score while on her knees before OSU covered the puck. OSU 1st goal direct result of another bad UMD pass. UMD 9 gave OSU a great feed breaking in on our net. UMD Goalie made save but UMD unable to clear zone. OSU scores.

Well, that's a wrap.

Hopefully Miller has recruited some strong offensive talent for next year and injuries are kept to a minimum.

I have high hopes for next year. The only real O output lost is 49. If most of the team learns how to make and catch a pass in the off season they should be tough next year.

Wong, yes but maybe you're forgetting Winberg (not far behind Wong in career points) and followed only a bit further back by Wilson.

All three are members of the 100 Point Club.

Wilson has not had a good year points wise...she did better with stronger linemates in her freshman year...which is logical. She seemed to tail off a bit when moved off the first line in her sophomore year.

The curtain comes down on the 'Dogs' season...

Didn't forget, just a case of "what have you done lately". Agree they have had good careers for UMD juts had off years this year.

Is it too early to start the Offseason Thread??? I'm in denial that there's a major tournament this weekend....that we won't be attending.
