UMass Lowell: 2023-24 Season

Field hockey got upset at home to Cal in the America East semifinals and likely don't have an at-large route to the NCAA tournament...

On the other hand Womens soccer upset the number one seed and will play for the America East championship on Sunday at 2 in Orono.

So, fall sports still in the hunt for the first non-hockey D1 NCAA tournament bid.

Tonight's line chart. Jake Stella and Gabe Blanchard are not in the lineup.

Tough loss for the FH team losing 3-2 in the 2nd OT. Congrats to the team on a great season.

BC certainly didn’t play like number one ranked team and give credit to UML for a very difficult game for BC

Dumb penalties are BC’s Achilles heel committing their 4th too many men on the ice this season and other unnecessary penalties

Tsongas is always a tough rink to play in for BC

As Norm noted in his presser, not many teams are going to kill off a 5x3 against BC. I’d argue the same for a 5min major.

This game aside, the PK and PP are bad. At least one of them needs to improve for them to have a good season.

The losses at home are disappointing but they have given good efforts and have been in each game.

6 goals scored over the last four games. But go ahead and call out your own fans for saying the offense isn't good enough. When you're actually playing league games and can't score ... maybe the lack of offense that some of us foresaw is a real problem?

Overall, playing the #1 team in the country and losing twice 3-2 isn't a terrible result. It's not like we didn't look like we belonged. But just more frustrating penalties.

Frustrating, The same old story regarding goal scoring.

Goals per game rank amongst D1... 44/62 last year, 28/62 21-22, 20/51 in 20-21, 36/60 in 19-20

47/64 right now as of this post

Did anyone get a good look at the disallowed goal? Was it goalie interference? Random thoughts: $13 beers? Gonna start bmob. PA system still screwed up. Men's room behind student section was filthy 45 minutes before the game. Half the sinks in there don't work and one of them is leaking all over causing a fall hazard. Get your shit together Tsongas facilities team!

From what I was told, the skate was barely in the crease, so technically the right call. Yeah, the beer prices have gone insane, a Fiddlehead Double was $16. That's Gillette Stadium prices.

From the rule book...Rule 73.1
However, an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances, be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if an attacking player, either by positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to defend the goal.

We were sitting behind the scorekeeper’s box and can see clearly the monitor and what the refs were looking at

There was clearly from the overhead camera the skater was in the crease or blue area and some minor contact between the skater and goalie

They replayed it a number of times in the booth and reached a clear conclusion that the skater was impeding the goalie by having parts of his skates and body in the crease
