UMass Lowell: 2023-24 Season

Couple of road games out at Colgate this weekend. The Raiders were picked to finish 6th in the ECAC this year in their preseason poll and have gotten off to a 2-1-1 start, averaging 3.5 goals per game while giving up 2.5. They hosted preseason #5 in Hockey East UConn to start the season and lot 4-2 before getting a 3-3 tie the next night. Then they went to Sacred Heart and swept them. This doesn't appear to be an easy trip for Lowell with how Colgate has started. Go Hawks.

I'm not sure there are going to many easy trips/games for Lowell this season. I expect there to be a lot of battles each weekend and hopefully Lowell can find themselves winning more of those than not. Would like to see some more scoring this week than up in Alaska to start.

My mate and I are thinking of going to Arizona for the Desert Classic. He's from Hudson, NH but went to ASU.

For the life of me I can't find anywhere to buy tickets.

Matt Crasa had himself a night. He's tied for the national lead with 6 goals now. He had 2 all of last season. As a freshman, he got his 6th (and 7th) goals in his 17th game. He had 3 multi-goal games that season and 12 goals for the year.

1st Lowell hat trick since Chase Blackmun on 1/4/2021 against Maine
1st Lowell hat trick by a forward since C.J. Smith on 12/31/2016 at Dartmouth
1st Lowell 4-goal game since Ben Walter on 10/29/2004 at Rensselaer
1st Lowell natural hat trick since Anders Strome on 11/24/2001 against Army
1st time a Lowell player had 3+ goals and accounted for all of the team's offense since Norm Bazin had all 3 goals in a 3-0 win over Merrimack in Game 2 of the Hockey East Quarterfinals on 3/11/1994 at Tully Forum.

UMass-Lowell was overall the better team this weekend at Colgate. Congrats to them. Enjoyed meeting some of the UML parents and fans. They had a good-sized and active / loud turnout.

Team sweeps on the road… crickets
Solid offensive weekend… crickets
Number 2 goal scorer in the country… crickets

3-1 start & All on the road… crickets

Not much to say so far, I think us getting to the near top in 2013 has changed expectations forever. I will say 3-1 looks... expected though I think we all would have expected the loss to be at colgate. I guess, I hate to say spoiled but considering it takes a heck and half to make a trip anywhere I can only get excited if we're looking at the NCAA regionals or frozen four. :( But then again a lot of others don't have that excuse of living 4 states away.

edit: it is nice to see the offense going. Crasa having a phenomenal night is nice. Worry the production will be there long term. UAA looks betterish than was expected though they gave up a terrible SH overtime goal in Saturday. Ways to go before I feel comfortable.

I made the trip to Colgate. I thought the team played well. Huge weekend for Matt Crasa and Scout Truman. It was also nice to see scoring from Owen Cole, Dillan Bentley and Nick Granowicz. They'll need everyone to chip in with the scoring this season. Hopefully Jake Stella is all right, he left late in the 2nd game after being shaken up.

Looking forward to the home opener Friday night against UConn. Hopefully it will be a full house.

I’m excited about the start and looking forward to Friday night. I’d imagine the building will be pretty full since it’s been a long wait for the first game at home.

The Crasa, Truman and Cole line is really rolling right now. Hopefully the other lines can get going this weekend too.

Missed both games this weekend due to some family stuff going on (and a Revs home game one night). Good results and good to see some scoring coming from a few different players (and have yourself a night, Matt Crasa!). I won't be there this Friday due to some work stuff, but hopefully they can start the home schedule with a win. Much stiffer challenge coming from UConn this weekend.
