UMass Lowell: 2023-24 Season

I'll be honest. As much as we need scoring we kind of need everything right now except goaltending. Defense which used to be our hallmark has fallen away

I never understood the big push to get lacrosse as a program at Lowell, as the men's team continues to struggle. They've lost 23 straight, their last win being the season ending game in 2022.

I believe adding men's and women's lacrosse was a requirement in order to join America East.

It's a shame they can't put a competitive team on the field. It's such an amazing game to watch.

Lowell will be playing in a new tournament next season ... I'm assuming the first Lowell game ever in California. The tournament will be held at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA (west of LA). Michigan Tech, Holy Cross and Nebraska Omaha complete the field for the "Coachella Valley Cactus Cup." Lowell will play Michigan Tech at 10PM ET on January 3rd, while Holy Cross faces Omaha at 6:30PM ET prior to that. The winners will play the next day at 10PM ET, the losers of the first game at 6:30PM ET.

Monty, I'm not sure if you saw this.

Palm Desert is about 15 miles from Palm Springs, which is about a 2-hour drive east of LA. Yes, these will be Lowell's 1st ever games in California.

Thanks for the correction. I also missed that Bob had already posted about it. Apparently that was a tough morning for me!

For those that might be interested, Hellebuyck has a great shot to win the Vezina for the second time in his career. My guess is that it's between him and Bobrovsky (Florida). Bobrovksy has a better GAA (2.37 v 2.39) but Hellebuyck has a better save rate at 92.1 (v 91.5). Hellebuyck saved over 200 more shots than Bobrovksy, but only played two more games. Good luck to Connor and the Jets in the playoffs (at least on the Western Conference side).
