Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Lowell absolutely cannot afford any more bad loses this season. They have to take care of Amherst, NU, Arizona State and AIC.
Speaking of ASU, I watched some of their game last night against Yale (PAC12 network) after getting back from Durham. They were obviously over match talent wise but they never stopped working and were pretty physical. The Yale player was lucky he didn't get hurt on that last hit on the video.

Really happy to see us get the two points last night, as they were desperately needed. Our lead in the HE standings is pretty **** tenuous as teams are right behind us now with games in hand. Thankfully we do have the tie-breaker over one of them already (ND).

On a more personal note, the UMass game timing sucks. That means it will be almost 7 weeks between seeing a home game for me. Boo. :(

So, I have two tickets available if anyone needs.

Not sure why we talk about PWR so much anymore. It's basically RPI as a deciding factor unless you have H2H matchups. So the question should be how much those losses hurt in the RPI. SOS is such a big part of it, but the difficult homestretch games should help.

well, it was neutered when they took the TUC component out... it really only matters if you have a strong h-2-h advantage... IIRC.

Again though, the RPI isn't a "fair" system... even winning will take you down (and yes, they do a "delete" component but that's only relative to what your

My current understanding is RPI, common op, and each h2h matchup count. So, if you have no h2h matchups the RPI breaks the tie so it's the only thing that matters. If there are head to head matches you need to win that (each individual win counting as a comparison), and if you only have one more win then the other team you also need common opponent. With 2 wins you still need common opponent so RPI won't tie break.

Basically it's really hard for RPI not to dominate the ranking

well, its all about overturning the RPI rating... you can't do it without h2h games... need 3 game advantage to undo an RPI+COP losses... need 1 to undo a RPI loss but COP win. So yeah, not enough to make a lot of waves.

For anyone with kids under 16 (or close enough they think they can get away with it), Amherst is holding a "Youth Hockey Appreciation Night" Thursday. Just wear any hockey jersey and they get in free.

That said the environment at Mullins isn't exactly child appropriate, unless you want your children learning new ways to use four letter words (although you could make a cool grammar learning experience out of challenging your children to point out the terrible english of the average neanderthal (student of our fine flagship campus)

With a 7pm game in Amherst the night before there was zero chance of that happening.

Let's just go for the novelty and play at midnight... is it just me or does it seem like we're the only ones that have to deal with it every year for some reason... I mean, could be worse, no playoffs at all.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Its a nice idea, but the Patriots game won't end until 7:30 at the earliest. It's too bad they couldn't push the start time back to 8:00 pm.

Or move it to 1pm.

But, if it makes you feel any better, the interesting news in Hockey East this weekend . . .

1. The resurgent Northeastern Husky's
2. The Boyle-ing hot Riverhawks
3. Martin St. Louis

Enjoy. You're welcome.

I'm stuck watching a BC/BU home and home this weekend.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Has anyone seen a mention of a vid stream for tonight's game?

Here you go:
http://www.umassathletics.com/collegesportslive/?media=508226

I'm fairly certain its not free, it looks like CBS College Live is their vendor. Unfortunately it looks like they make you register before you can even see the prices.

PC & BU also use this vendor, so if there is some type of all team monthly pass and you're planning to stream those games as well, it might be the biggest bang for your buck because all three of those games are within the next 30 days.
