Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

From old friend Goon on Twitter

Boyle looking rather Amherstian lately but Bazin will just keep riding him. Would like to see either of the other two in the next game just to give Boyle a break and to shake things up a bit.

But defense has let him out to dry several times lately so not all his fault.

Yes, even last night 3 breakaways given up? Boyle can only do so much.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

We went through a phase where a 2-goal lead under Bazin was pretty much a done deal for opponents. Not this year, not anymore.

5-3 loss tonight after a 3-1 lead. Just disappointing.

It sounded like they had the game under control going up 3-1. Then they gave it right back. This team needs to develop a killer instinct.

exactly, so he should get a night off once in a while. Why bring in two freshman if you are not even gonna see how they play?

Well they didn't have much choice, the other two goalies on the roster last season left the program.

I didn't see the game, so I don't know how Boyle looked, but he just had three weeks off and a shutout last night so I don't see why he wouldn't get the start tonight.

Lots of regression to the mean lately. I saw several times this week a stat that Norm's teams haven't lost an in season elimination tournament. This was bound to happen eventually. The 3rd period lead stats, the 2 goal lead stats. Those aren't working out this year.

These holiday tournamentments often yield upsets, and despite Robert Morris being an AHA team, they are probably one of the better teams Lowell has played. Look at thier pairwise. Hard to get that high in AHA.

I think this team has been playing poorly going as far back as the Notre Dame series.

They don't seem to have the balanced scoring attack they had last season.

Now they have another weekend off. Can't help but wonder if they will be rusty again for the UNH game.

The problem is how to give Boyle a night off while playing important league games. Unless he really struggles maybe the ASU weekend?

Agree. Plus what happens next season when you have 3 goalies with little or no college experience.

He was hot out of the gate, so he ate up a lot of the OOC games where one would have expected we would see one of the underclassmen usually get a game. Conner's first starts were Denver and Harvard (November and December respectively), so I wonder if Norm just does not like the idea of playing freshman in the first half of their first season.

We will never know how good they are until we see them play, but it sure seems like Boyle is slumping

Just guessing, but it seems likely to me that they walked because they were getting no playing time. Its not like Boyle was tearing it up last season (then again neither were the freshman).

listening it on the radio... the 18 in front of him are having enough problems... Boyle isn't a miracle worker and this team is proving it

edit: let's face it... i didn't pay attention to the UConn series... but this team has looked like crap since and including the Belfast trip... maybe this group doesn't have "it".

The next 5 games should be interesting (@UNH, @UMA, UMA, @PC, PC). UNH just put up 12 goals in a 2 game sweep of Maine.

Have to agree with Patman. When the defense is having issues and the team is taking penalties, the outcome is as expected when playing a Robert Morris team that is clicking at almost 36% on the power play and averages over 4 goals per game. Can't blame the goaltending.
