UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

The home white jerseys got some love in the current issue of The Hockey News. They are spotlighted in the Jersey Hound column along with a picture of Zack Kamrass. The column says "The River Hawks have been one of the better college teams in Hockey East the past few years and this season look sharp with new uniforms. The big innovation here comes with the white-on-white shoulders, accented by some nice red and blue striping. The school used to go with a Montreal Canadiens-style look but with the UMass-Lowell font as the logo."

When I first saw the pictures I hated them, but having seen them in person over a few games I think they're really sharp.

i think they're all right, but after the BC game I am wondering if the style is the new "super jersey" where all you do is swap colors and you get various schools.

Fun weekend. Never thought they'd be 5-1-1 after early departures and graduation.

For contrast, the Northeastern fans are going absolutely nuclear over their horrible start on their thread. While UML could possibly be 7-1-1 after this coming weekend's series, I really hope they don't take NU for granted as it's the perfect set up for disaster. I'm hoping for the best but wouldn't be surprised if NU really comes out with a huge chip on their shoulders and takes it to Lowell in at least one of the two games.

Its a great "discipline" weekend. Its easy to look at NU as a carcass to our buzzard but it never comes that easy.

I still wonder why we are so blue focused yet pur home jerseys are white.

It seems like most NCAA teams do white at home. The NHL used to be the same way. I wasn't wild about the new design either at first, but they have grown on me. I'm glad the home no longer look like Montreal's.

Edit: They've added more blue and removed some red from each of the jerseys as well.

From the NCAA Rulebook:
Rule 9 - Uniforms
9.1 Jerseys - Each player and each goalkeeper listed in the lineup of each team
shall wear an individual identifying number at least 10 inches high on the
back of the jersey and at least 4 inches high on the front or on both sleeves.
The visiting team shall wear dark-colored jerseys and stockings; the home
team shall wear light-colored jerseys and stockings.
All players of each
team shall dress uniformly in that day’s game jersey.

Light-colored jerseys (e.g., white, gold, yellow or light blue) may be
worn during the regular season by the visiting team only when the teams
have agreed before the game. If the teams are unable to agree, the visiting
team will wear dark-colored jerseys.

The number of the jersey shall contrast the overall jersey color.

There was a series of years where the CCHA changed it up... Unsure why that was allowed.
Wasn't the NHL was the same way but maybe 10 years ago changed it because so many teams were doing 3rd jerseys at home and most of them were dark?

essentially... though when they did that they justified with "well, way back in the day you work dark colors at home but they changed that because dark jerseys didn't need to be washed (could hide stains and blood better)"

Wow...UConn just knocked off BC 1-0. UConn will be tough. They have been playing very well so far and have been getting great goaltending.

That's definitely been their key, that and defense. They average 10+ shots less a game than their opponents. They've only scored 13 goals in 8 games, but only conceded 18.

...wow. Losing to uml and UConn should rightly knock the holy ones down from thier lofty ranking, but likely won't...not that rankings should matter that much but still.

This program needs a change. It needs a change. Translate that however you want. It needs change.

I for one hope for their irrational housecleaning endeavors. Its hockey. Takes a lot more than one game to become a trend.

I've been watching some of the BC/UConn stuff play out over the last 10 years. Its a social class thing but a lot of BC and UConn share the same attitudes about their inherent self-worth... a lot more similar types of people than either will want to admit.

Trust me, this I've noticed. Between basketball, football and now hockey.

So the UConn fans wear dead animals for coats too?

ha, the lowell game was how long ago now? not sure what impact that would have on current rankings. regardless, what is so bad about losing at lowell? it's like when crowds chant overrated. you take away from what your team just accomplished.
